The ladies have been playing together more than eight years. Through an entertaining and educational Power Point presentation, we will learn about Frida Kahlo, one of Mexico’s greatest artists whose painting style has been described as turbulent, colorful, and folkloric. The speaker will also discuss prominent painter (and the husband of Kahlo), Diego Rivera, whose large wall works in fresco helped establish the Mexican Mural Movement in Mexican art. Both artists are considered controversial—at least partially—because of their political leanings.
