El Mirage police, with help from Surprise and the county sheriff's office, arrest two men, at least one living in Sun City, distributing dangerous drug in El Mirage.“ ~ Reported by Rusty Bradshaw Thank you, El Mirage Police, Surprise, MCSO @ Rusty for sharing this news. Fentanyl manufactured right here, in Sun City, being sold in El Mirage! Official notification from El Mirage Police that Rusty reads in his report: https://x.com/ElMiragePD/status/1892768596599984133 An investigation like this usually takes a year or two to create a solid case to prosecute.
No, this happened at a twin home on Cameo at about 107th - 108th. We walk by that place all the time. It's been going on for at least two years. Neighbors have called the authorities over the years to no avail. Man lives with his elderly mom, two men were arrested, two females were taken out in handcuffs. Talked to a neighbor today that said a female was sleeping on her patio in only her panties.
Yes, the drug bust was where the two RVs were parked for several months a couple of years ago. The Corvette in the driveway hasn't moved for months. You can tell because it has a flat tire. I guess that car belonged to the dad who is no longer living. One of the neighbors told me today that there had been a shooting in there recently.
It doesn't make any less frightening. Within 1/2 block of my home between November and December 2024 one stabbing, person taken to ED via ambulance, took other person away, cops everywhere broad daylight. House locked up for months. Assault a few weeks after, no more details, just cops arrested someone, then a burglary around the corner. At my own home last Summer 3:30 am someone walking back and forth on front porch. Thank God for my two loud dogs. I live near Boswell and Burns, Phase 2. The last three SC Independent papers had nothing but negative opinion pieces. 55+ communities are targets, especially when the snowbirds leave. But all that being said it's so nice that SC is concentrating on by-laws, dog training and PAC's and that our board feels it is not their responsibility for the happiness of the members. Start at 42:35. If you want more context on how this board feels listen a little before and after that mark. Not many go to meetings, some watch and those that hear things like this walk away feeling very disappointed. Also negativity spreads like wildfire. My neighbors, most of whom I have known for 17 years are disgusted. RCSC Exchange Meeting - Monday, February 10, 2025
Hi Emily, Folks can call MCSO if you have oversized vehicles parked illegally in your neighborhood. Have a good day.
So are you saying from now on no one should pay attention to your opinions? I think you are confusing someone saying (eg) "I saw a 250 pound Yorkie with a person's feelings about the RCSC or SCHOA. The big picture is people are becoming less enamored with Sun City, more concerned about the crime. Are we supposed to wait until someone gets killed? Is that what it will take to make the $14 million PAC and the $1.5 million dog play area less important?
February 13th, MCSO Crime report in Sun City Independent A strong-arm robbery was reported 3:35 a.m. in the 10800 block of West Cameo Drive.
I have no control over what other people think or feel or do about any opinion that I may express. And, yes everyone should verify what is in the news and any social media. That's the problem. People read or hear something and they run with it rather than fact check it first. It is not within the purview of the RCSC to deal with crime. Because they are under Title 10, they can only deal with recreation related items. Of course, the PAC and dog thing are not (in my opinion) more important than dealing with crime, but it's not within the power of the RCSC to fix or spend any funds towards crime. We are not structured like a regular town/city because we are not incorporated. Depending on personal opinion, this has it's positives and negatives. I'm not really sure what the answer is towards the crime situation and drug epidemic that is plaguing all of our communities across the nation. On a small scale here, there are some positive things individuals can do like supporting our LE and first responders, reporting things when you see anything out of the ordinary, joining/supporting the Posse, create your own neighborhood watch, checking on your neighbors and learning how to defend yourself and your property. Other than that I don't know what to tell you.
We need to do something. If you are a Nextdoor member people are talking there. They are afraid. The negative opinion pieces are the person's perception, and the more people that send them into the paper the more people will notice. The only resource we have in an emergency is MCSO, and they are not going to rush here of someone is trespassing in the middle of the night. There has to be a solution.
Well said Emily, that bridge regarding incorporation was crossed long ago. That said, i had the privilege of sitting in on a Sun City Leadership Coalition meeting a month back and was impressed by the Maricopa County Sheriff's representative there. He was deeply interested in the challenges of our community and appeared committed to working with the various organizations who each have their role. The entire concept of building a sense of community goes well beyond what the RCSC or SCHOA does. It's why i have written and spoken repeatedly about big picture Sun City. Living or operating in a vacuum benefits no one. It was the mistake we made some years back and digging ourselves out of that hole is a long slow process. As my good friend and mentor Ben Roloff told me time and time again, set goals and then build paths to achieve them.
Bill, how does one find out when the next MCSO meeting is with folks here in Sun City? Don't they do those every so often? Thank you. Eileen
Emily, we had a large rig truck parking down our street for 3 years. I got the best response from calling MCSO. Truck was gone in one day. I just want folks to know, SCHOA told me to call MCSO for this and anything you see strange or otherwise happening in your neighborhood. Have a good day!
