I am looking for a 3.75 backset doorknob for my sun city place. The door to the garage didn't have one and you can't buy one at lowes, ace or Home Depot. We have looked at habitat and goodwill with no luck. Does anyone have one I could purchase or know where I could find one? Thanks so much.
Try the Ace Hardware on 111th Avenue just south of Alabama Avenue in Youngtown. They seem to have stocked many items that were used in constructing the older Sun City Homes.
Have you tried googling for it? Maybe ebay. A store located right in Sun City just might have what you want. I'm thinking True Value and Ace. They tend to carry items needed in SC.
As you found out 3 3/4" backset is not the norm these days, 2 3/4" is the standard now for entry doors. You could probably buy a regular Schlage or Kwikset knob and custom order a 3 3/4 latch.
