It's a bit of a conundrum eh? The net is open to the world to read, and consequently these kinds of sites may impact a person's decision to buy here. That obviously can be a positive or a negative, and at times, can be and is both. It's the beauty of the net because it is yet another tool to help people narrow down their choices. With that said, I find myself at odds as far as how much to say, and how bluntly to say it. I have no intention of hurting anyone volunteering on the RCSC board; hell I voted for everyone of them (yes Jim even you). That said, I came to understand that Sun City didn't belong to me as a board member, any more than it belonged to Jan Ek as the general manager or my next door neighbor who has never gone to an RCSC board meetings. The community is ours and as such we have a voice and should be heard. Ultimately the board votes and hopefully they do the right thing; rather than doing something because they can. Which brings me to the point of this thread. Apparently one of the board members was heard to say this increase will pass because they have the votes to pass it. Interesting given we have a board meeting this coming Thursday and who knows what they might hear from the community. It would seem to me any board member with his or her salt would be waiting to get feedback from their constituency before they would have a predetermined outcome for their vote. I know exactly how this process works and I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly. I tend not to talk about it much (the secret pinky ring thing and all), but at some point, the more the community knows and understands, the better they are able to decide and more likely they are to get involved. Beside, as an outsider looking in, I would be impressed by community leaders who listened to their members and acted on their comments. Certainly more so than community leaders who just did what they wanted because they could. We'll see eh?
I've also heard the same from several people. I don't understand what the rush is or why the reason for the increase is not being detailed.
Because there are no details and apparently at least a handful of them think as long as they have enough votes, that's all that matters. It's sad because once the board loses the residents faith, it's really hard to get it back.
Sounds as if they want to go all political instead of what is best for the community. If that is true then I hope it will be pointed out at the next voting who was for it. Because those of us newbies, who must pay the extra 500, will be there to vote. And we will be fresh community members, not tired of voting.
