Sunday morning we were headed out the door with some friends to Cliff Castle casino and before we left I was trying to post a thread on the free show at the Sundial auditorium that night. Come Back Buddy was performing for free that night and turns out they had a full house. We missed it as we got caught up in a nasty traffic jam on 17 and got home too late. My post was lost when I tried to put a picture into the post and hit the wrong button; dang, I hate when that happens. For those who don't know, the Sun Bowl shows come indoors during June, July and August. As you can see on the link for CBB, they put on a really fun rock and roll show and rumor has it Sunday night was a good one. This is a great place for a reminder about the Sun Bowl. It's in the process of a face lift as this 40 year old amphitheater, a truly iconic piece of Sun City's history, gets all new grass and a food court area in the front of it before the free shows begin anew this fall. During the 70's, DEVCO had wildly successful concerts featuring huge names for that era. In those days they sold tickets but now built into the RCSC budget is yearly are 20 plus free shows for residents and their guests. I know the coming years we are looking to keep bringing in bigger and better talent, so get those out door chairs greased up and ready for this falls season.
I look forward to the events in the future... Also.. word of advice.. sometimes if I do long posts and I want to make sure for any reason I don't "lose it"... I actually type it out on a word document and then simply copy and paste it just in case it doesn't take I can try again!!
It's a great way to do it bmac and I know there are several compatible programs that can be used in conjunction so that doesn't happen. My problem is I get in a hurry and you know now how that works out from time to time. When I am doing articles or blog pieces I typically use Word or something similar but for the down and dirties I blow them out and live with the consequences. Here's the story on the July show: Wyatt Earp: A Life on the Frontier - FREE SHOW! Sunday, July 21, 2013 at 2pm Set in the mid-1920s, an elderly Wyatt Earp tells of his adventures during the final days of the American Frontier from Arizona to Alaska. Great-grand nephew Wyatt portrays his famous namesake relative in this one-man play written by his wife, Terry Tafoya Earp, since 1996. With over 670 performances to date including stage productions throughout the United States, Canada and Europe, the play won an AriZoni Award for Best Original Production. Meet the Man, Not the Myth in this remarkable afternoon history lesson! And here's the link from the RCSC Events Calendar. I see there is a Forever Tops tribute show with tickets going for $13 on August 21 followed by the free Ice Cream social and featuring Sun City's own Mark Baker. Mark is a professional entertainer who retired here. He does a wicked Neil Diamond and this show I guarantee is one you won't want to miss.
