Dec. 24, 2012 - - I was preparing Christmas Dinner - - when my neighbor phoned me and told me that "that coyote she saw the day before on my 5 foot block wall fence - - had returned" ! I peeked out my back sliding door and Amazed - - there this young coyote was -- - just standing big & tall on my wall. I took this photo thru the glass -- - when I quietly opened the sliding door - - it heard me and left.....

Coyote had been in my yard the day before - - as my neighbor mentioned -- jumping in & out of my yard...it left a mess - - tore up brittle bush plant and left his dumps all around -- guess he thought it was his territory !

I could not figure out what it was after -- because I have no pets at all in my yard...unless it could have been after a stray cat I often see in my back yard. I was puzzled.

My Christmas guests also brought two large dogs with them -- maybe their scent scared this critter away.

A caution to those who have pets.....these coyotes are predators and they are getting bold. - -so just be aware of your pets surroundings.

Picture to the right are two coyotes crossing Del Webb - near Riverview Golf Course.

There were five coyote in my neighborhood the other day when I was out walking a dog. Someone stopped in their golf cart and offered me a ride home to keep me from running into the pack. What would one do if several coyote became aggressive?

Gilmark - -I have also ran into several in a pack while out walking - -just by myself - - no dog with me. Normally they do not bother humans. However, if you have a small dog, coyotes want to eat them - -and they might even grab them off your dog's leash. Coyotes think the larger dog breed are their competitors and just want to kill the larger dogs....This info is hear-say... but I believe it.

A lot of walkers carry a stick or a golf club for their own protection. I always have my cell phone, a whistle, and an air-horn with me - scaring them away with noise usually works.

They were here before we were - - so what does one do ? Live with them ! They for certain have plenty of food - these little fat bunnies are all around- whever you go !

I have heard tales of people running into packs here and having their little dog attacked in front of them. It is rare to have any physical encounter with one but they do happen. A few nuts were feeding the young ones up in Trilogy a few summers ago and one poor man sunbathing in his back yard was rudely disturbed by a coyote biting his leg and drawing blood. The man sat up and this coyote sat down and just stared at him waiting for his treat lol. Another woman in the same development was bitten on her chest by a hungry pup. Not to be messed with for sure.

Sun City is and all our areas here - - are warned never to feed the coyotes...If you feed them they become un-afraid of us humans !
I think these critters are just becoming to used to us being in their territory.....we actually are living with them...they are used to seeing us all around - -
