I went looking for the email addresses of the various directors, and they are not listed anywhere on the new site. I sent an email to the main email address, asking for the emails, and was advised the individual emails will no longer be listed. How does one express their desires to the individual board members or even commend or seek to converse with the board when the ability to communicate with an individual board member has been removed? Talk about losing the ability to be in contact with those that are supposed to be our representation? I am appalled that during this time of needing to convey ideas and concerns, the ability to do so has been has been impeded with the removal of contact information. My opinion.

At the l Chris N. announced at the last Exchange that directors were being inundated with spam and nastygram emails. All future email communication with them should be sent to: boardoffice@suncityaz.org
So, we now have lost the ability to be in direct contact with those that are supposed to be our representatives of the board? Due to spam and nastiness pointed their way? Any other disconnects we, the members, should be aware of? If we had a community newspaper, we all could have been made aware of this turn of events. But this was never broadcast to anyone unless you were a part of the board meeting? This gets worse every minute.
This is an example of the hack upon our RCSC director emails. Consequently, Chris N. announced at the last Exchange that directors were being inundated with spam and nastygram emails. All future email communication with them should be sent to: boardoffice@suncityaz.org
The board is becoming increasingly unavailable to the members, with only having three minutes to speak, only once a month, unless there’s a topic of interest, then you can have 3 more minutes in the second half of the month. Is there any reason one can put their finger on as to why the members feel alienated? It feels as if the board has become more like those in the ivory tower, above the reach of the constituents who put them in office. There are filters that can be applied to stop spamming and cramming of emails. Those who seek to create ill will and malice can be removed and blocked. Instead, the entire membership has been censored and, I, for one am convinced this is another move to further alienate the members. What’s next, reducing the amount of time to speak or completely ending the ability to speak at all?
The link boardoffice@suncityaz.org is nothing more than a way to filter what the board sees. It's a bit bucket. It really does matter as the board rarely responds to emails from the members. I've sent a few emails to board members and never got one response from any of them. Member input is not wanted. The board believes the members are not as smart as they are. If you think it was hard to be in touch with the board members before, it will be impossible now.
I struggle with this mightily. I am sure the Board receives their share of nasty grams - I did when I was on the board. IMHO isolating yourself so that you are out of reach of the members is a step too far. Remember, we have eliminated the electronic comment cards and are now not publishing email addresses. Hopefully, the new website will allow more direct member contact with decision makers.
So what happens now? I guess Marcia Johnson now has the additional responsibility to administer each and every one of those incoming emails, along with her regular duties, and then forward them to the particular Director's they are intended for? Sorry, but as a Director you have to take the good with the bad. If you can't handle the criticism then resign. Director's are elected to their position to represent us, the Members, and now we're finding out the only way to achieve personal contact is to attend an Exchange or Board meeting and corner them? This is not fair to Marcia Johnson or the Members. Just my opinion!
This is NOT an intentional decision to isolate the directors from members. It’s hopefully a temporary solution to a substantial problem. RCSC Director Chris Nettesheim announced, at the last Exchange, directors’ email has been compromised! They were being inundated with non-member spam and nastygram type emails. Consequently, all future email communication with them should be sent to: boardoffice@suncityaz.org
Sorry, but when the directors choose to remove access to the members, it’s intentional. No way to play this other than the members have lost direct access to the board. There are too many applications that can be implemented to stop spam and block access to members or others who would otherwise create an issue. Blanket removal of access to the directors, especially at this critical time in relation to Mountainview is an unscrupulous act. This is done knowingly and without merit. If you can’t hire someone to help with spam on the new site, there are serious problems. In my opinion.
What makes anyone think the new email address for the BOD cannot and will not be compromised? If the inbox of 9 board members can be compromised, 1 mailbox that is a clearing house for what the BOD's see can be compromised. And who is making that decision on what the board sees? Lawyers?
Perhaps more to the point, things have changed. Are we to believe in today’s technology that is available, the RCSC cannot implement software that would prevent hackers? With all of the various software tools out there that can be deployed to prevent these kinds of vulnerabilities, the RCSC can only find one solution, and that is cut out member involvement? Claiming system frailty as a reason for removing availability to members access is outlandish. There exists way too many ways of preventing and dealing with these threats that are software generated and are fairly common to most modern technology. If a $300k system was left open to dubious code threats, then fix it and quickly. Members need to be able to be in contact with the board as they are the elected representatives for the RCSC. And with a huge expenditure looming, it is all the more reason for members to be able to contact the board members themselves. My opinion only
The board does not want to hear from the members. They have, along with the BOD's mouthpiece decided they no longer wish to be involved in the NEW RCSC website. " At the recent Outreach and Communications Committee meeting, Chris N, chair, said website transitioning concerns should be emailed to Mike Dirmyer, interim GM. He is the point person. mdirmyer@suncityaz.org" The web site and it's implementation, maintenance, and use belongs under the control of the IT department. We've got the wrong people doing the wrong jobs. Of course this is only an opinion. You may not like it, but you have to respect my decision to post it.
