A few minutes ago I walked into my living room and saw something on the floor.

When I went to pick it up, 'it' ran away very fast.

I think it was a gecko.

Another good reason to wear shoes in the house.

It could have been a scorpion or roach
They do not move very fast.

Now I will be on the lookout for that whatever and continue to wear shoes in the house.

I love gecko's and I would enjoy having a house guest for a while. They eat the bugs that scare me.

I had the same experience and thought it was a centipede, but it was a gecko. Took some maneuvering, but escorted him safely to the yard before my dog would snack on him....they are fast! Like you said Fiona, they do a great job on bug patrol.

I have been on the warpath with ants in my house. I've used every method suggested on the internet for chemical-free household items to use and have tried the Terro thing (I think the ants like it and have become immune to the product). Today I found no ants. Could it be that I pulled out my range stove and cleaned around it and underneath it and finally found their food source? Whatever, let's hope they are gone forever (or until next spring when I always have them). Any suggestions for future needs is appreciated.

I had the same problem last year about this time.
Got up one morning with many ants on my kitchen counter.
I tried all kinds of stuff from powder to pepper to Terro.

Finally when the Amera pest control person came I asked him for a suggestion.
He came in in put drops of something along the back edges of my counters.
I was told NOT to kill the ants but to let them carry poison back to their nest for their relatives to enjoy.
It wasn't too long before I did not have any ants.

Now I keep a spray bottle on my kitchen counter containing 1/2 vinegar & 1/2 water
I spray my counters several times a day. So far no ants. My neighbor gets a few every day.

I agree that the ants like Terro.

When we purchased our little shed to remodel here we knew it had not had much attention in many years. The horror of opening up the back wall to see millions...well maybe hundreds of cockroaches (the prehistoric kind) crawl out was too much for me. We treated and treated and two years later have only seen one tiny little black bug in my house. Nothing moving in the back yard either so maybe we used too much lol.
