Recently a friend was admitted to Boswell Hospital with pneumonia.* She is a retired anesthesiologist from a well known hospital. She said that the care*was excellent from the time she was admitted until she was discharged. Doctors and nurses were*very knowledgeable and caring. Also, food was excellent. I told her the hospital was rated among the best in the country. BTW. She has only lived in Sun City for a year and was a bit apprehensive about a hospital that she knew nothing about. Ahhh! We knew Boswell was good didn't we?*
Back in another lifetime I had the good fortune to work towards a better end health care delivery system. We called the ultimate targeted options "Center's of Excellence." The theory was simple; we targeted hospitals and doctors that provided documentation on the numbers of surgeries they performed. It was all about outcome based results that could be verified. Amazing how some hospitals and doctors had no interest in providing that information. But i digress; one of the reasons Banner Boswell is so highly thought of is because of the number of similar procedures they see and do week in and week out. Geriatric needs are pretty much a constant and the more they deal with them the better they get at them. We are fortunate to have a hospital like Banner/Boswell in our back yard and truly bodes well for the future of our community.
