Sunday's memorial for conservative activist Charlie Kirk is expected to be one of the most heavily secured events in Arizona history.

“Arizona’s Family learned from Special Agent William Mack that U.S. Secret Service agents were already on the ground in the Valley, working in close coordination with local, state, and federal partners.

Glendale Police also confirmed that thousands of uniformed officers would be stationed in and around the stadium, along with more than 5,000 surveillance cameras covering the area.

“There are many other layers of security on top of what’s already there,” Karl de la Guerra, an international security consultant, said. He added that many of those protocols would not be visible to the public. De la Guerra said State Farm Stadium already featured a robust security system, but noted that it would be significantly heightened for Sunday’s memorial.

He explained that heightened law enforcement measures would stretch for miles beyond the stadium and that as people got closer to the area, they would notice an increased presence of security personnel, including the Secret Service.

However, he emphasized that many safety protocols would be designed to operate discreetly. “Some you’ll notice, and others you won’t at all,” De la Guerra said.

Police advised Valley residents to expect major road closures but said they were still finalizing details on when and where those would occur. Significant traffic is anticipated as out-of-town guests and dignitaries arrive for the event.

For now, police urged patience and cooperation from the public, as delays and disruptions were expected across the Valley.”
