Dan the mailman noticed covered car gone from carport and thought owners were back for the season but blinds were still down. He looked around and noticed window broken. Thieves had gone in house and probably found keys hanging inside door and car was stolen. Sheriff called.“ (Dan is a great postal carrier!) Crime is happening more often in our community! Let’s be good neighbors and look out for one another, “Be like Dan!” The Maricopa County Sheriffs Office has asked us to report any suspicious activity.
Crime seems to migrate to different areas and there isn't really any patrol to deter crime. Many thefts are because of open garages, unlocked vehicles and valuable items left in plain sight. It is also important not to leave garage door openers in vehicles parked outside especially overnight. I follow www.communitycrimemap.com which allows you to track all Sun City crimes reported to MCSO on a daily basis. In the last week there have been 17 serious crimes reported in Sun City from Grand north to Beardsley. In the area south of Grand to Olive there have been 7 serious crimes reported.
Any vehicle left in a driveway is a target for catalytic converters theft. For your remote opener you might want to look into a keychain remote from Liftmaster 374UT Mini Universal Remote Control. Just verify with liftmaster that it will work with your opener. If it’s on your keychain with your vehicle keys, you will never forget and leave your opener in the vehicle.
From a Posse member: Suspicious Activity. Hi all. I work with the posse. If you see suspicious activity in your area give us a call to do patrols. Most of the time we can do this to free up time for the MCSO officers. Phone 623.972.2555
