Fort Whipple served as the capital of Arizona Territory prior to the founding of Prescott.

Prescott served as capital of Arizona Territory until 1867, when the capital was moved to Tucson. The capital was returned to Prescott in 1877 and was finally moved to Phoenix in 1889.

The State Capitol Museum is in the restored 1900 Capitol Building and presents exhibits & programs on Arizona Territory & early Statehood.

Arizona is known as the Golf Capital of the World and sometimes called The Valley of the Sun.
Tucson is called the Astronomy Capital of the World.
Wickenburg is often called the Guest Ranch Capital of the World.
Window Rock is the capital of the Navajo Nation.
