The date: Friday evening, April 5, 2019. The time: 7 pm (but you know they'll be lined up at 6 to get in). The place: Sundial Auditorium. Dang gang, that time of year again isn't it. The snowbirds are leaving in droves, the streets are starting to free up of all the traffic and most important of all, Dancing with the Sun City Stars is right around the corner. All of the details are posted above, so if you are inclined to go, start making plans now. It has been fascinating to watch as the yearly show has morphed from the first year where i was a contestant (horrible at best) to an event where Sun City residents haul in everything but the kitchen sink and make one hell of a party out of it. The kids that dance are nothing short of spectacular and following the intermission the professionals take over. Nope, fun to see our neighbors on showing us what they've got, but it pales when the youngsters let their hair down and aren't having to drag their partner across the stage. And, once again, yours truly has the honor of being one of the judges. Nice.
Bill, there was mention of some of the shows being repeated. This is one of the ones I feel has been done well, but needs to find another venue or opportunity to bring in another type of show stopper rather than the same show, different people. So glad you enjoy it, you get to be a judge, and loved the peasant shirt from your first performance. In my opinion only, there has got to be another type of dazzling show which could be brought in with some new ideas and inventive presentations to really bring out a whole new audience to see a show. Enjoy being a judge, knock them dead with your wit and humor.
One of the cool aspects of the DWSCS is they are bringing folks in from clubs who all bring along gobs of supporters. Last year it was astonishing to me the huge numbers of people who attended that came and cheered on their favorite dancer. They came in large numbers and brought plenty of food, drink and enormous energy. I would be amazed if there isn't a full house yet again. If there isn't maybe it is a time to try something new. If they pack the place again, why change? I got there early last year and the lines were long and in place way before the doors even opened. Of course, it is Sun City and it is free.
