Just saying here it would be a smart choice to have extra seating ready for Monday's member exchange meeting. Seems some folks aren't quite as enamored with the increase to the PIF as others may be. Your helpful servant, BP.
This will not be a pleasant meeting if a large crowd shows up. The member/board exchange is supposed to be an opportunity for cardholders to ask a question or make a statement without any time limit. Confusion, upset and disorderly conduct can still be averted if the RCSC Board will send out an email blast explaining the need for the increase. It won't satisfy or reach all cardholders but would show a small effort at effective communication.
So true aggie, but don't hold your breath. At this point I suspect they'll just plow forward and hope for the best. And to Emily's point, civility is a must have. Board members are volunteers and are trying to do the right thing; and who knows maybe this increase is desperately needed. It just certainly doesn't appear to be the case. I did hear a rumor; it's needed because several of the last projects came in over budget. The other thing I heard was that because Sun City West is at $3100 and there was little flap over it, why not? Frankly, I love the idea we are lower than them...and doing so many more things.
Sun City West is playing catch up with getting funds to maintain and build new facilities. They didn't start collecting PIF funds early enough and now must keep increasing the amount. I don't envy them once construction begins at Bell/Grand.
I don't think the projects "came in over budget" in a surprising way. The $850,000 electronic sign project could have been delayed, done in two phases and still be covered with PIF funds. The golf course projects were expanded way beyond the original scope. The future golf course re-dos and new equipment buildings will all have expanding price tags. I won't be surprised with the "over budget" excuse.
I noticed in the weekly email blast from the RCSC that the venue has changed for the Monday April 13th Board/Exchange meeting. The email stated the meeting will take place 9 a.m. at Sundial. A good move on the part of RCSC but I'm not sure it will reach enough people in time for the meeting tomorrow. Many will go to Lakeview first and then make the trek to Sundial or not attend because they thought it would be too crowded.
