In an hour and a half, 9 am on Weds April 23, the Sun City Orientation will kick off their first of it's kind joint presentation at the Sundial auditorium. The partnership event is shared by the RCSC, SCHOA and COA and there will be any number of other Sun City organizations in the room. I'm headed over to see what is happening, because this is exactly the kind of organizational promotion that has been lacking for years. The RCSC has been more internally focused, so it's fascinating to see them come to grips with what i call "big picture Sun City." I'll fill you on my take later today or tomorrow. Hope to see you all there.
Indeed a great opportunity to advance Sun City’s “sense of community!” For those unable to attend the Orientation, there will be a video recording! Watch for notification when available for viewing.
The Sun City Orientation was really a wonderful experience. It was the basics, the nuts and bolts if you will. After the session, one of the Museum's board members who has been involved with the Sun City West TORCH program told me what he just saw and heard was equivalent to the first 4 hour's of their program (they do 7-4 hour sessions). I would guess somewhere between 150-200 people in the room. It was deceptive because they had set up way more chairs than they needed. The three presenters all did a good job on a several fronts, explaining what each of their organizations did (RCSC, SCHOA and COA) and then went on to explain what all of the other organizations did in the community. I'll post the link below (the program was recorded), but let me end with this: My initial thought took me back to that old 80's commercial from Virginia Slims where they proclaimed: "You've come a long way baby." Here's why; for years, males dominated the organizational hierarchy in Sun City. Sure there was an occasional female, but were always predominantly men. Yesterday, the three presenters were all women and they did a great job. You can watch it here.
