Letter to the Editor. | Talk of Sun City A self-governing community is a community or area that is run by its own people, rather than by another region or organization. Self-governing communities are also known as autonomous, independent, or sovereign. Self-governance is a fundamental principle in many democracies, republics, and nationalist governments. It's related to the concept of autonomy, which is the ability of a group to govern itself and be free from external influences. We have been told that Sun City is a self-governed community since its inception. Is it anymore? It seems we are governed by the Board and the GM now. I get criticized a lot because I don't "love" Sun City. IMO the longer I live here the less there is to love. From the criticism anyone reading these threads would think I was the only one in history who has not been enamored with this town. Above is a post from 2016 which was back in my 10 hour work days and on call evenings. I couldn't have cared less about the goings on in Sun City. We are not the SC with the most amenities anymore. There is more crime then ever here. I know, it's all over the US, especially with the influx of 22 million people in a few short years. Criminals probably think we are especially vulnerable due to the age factor here. I say Enough Bellowing right back at you. When you get on websites of other Webb Sun City it's clear we are doing something wrong. I don't know what that is, but I believe one thing that should be done is electing people with proper work-related backgrounds, not because former board members "like" them. Let residents view them through our own eyes. Email blast their resumes prior to the question/answer meet the candidate videos. Just one womans opinion.
