Life in the desert - -it is Dry - -Hot and More Dry and even hotter ! ! No rain for months-- No problem !. My yard looks pretty and colorful with the Desert Landscape shrubs and plants I have chosen to be a part of my very little water areas. Texas sage I have in both front and back yards -- two different types. I water them a little once a month in the summer....rarely in the winter. Oleanders, Bird of Paradise, Rosemary, Pyracantha...and even my citrus trees - - require only 15 minutes of water with a low bubbler system. My Brittle Bushes - native to deserts - - beautiful with yellow flowers - -and succulents... need very little water. Your local nursery will have booklets on Desert Landscape. The plus - - I do all my own yard work - - easy trimming with these desert jewels !
I've always wondered with our ability to pipeline oil across the country why not have an infrastructure that allow for the redistribution of water. In one part of the country there are floods and another a drought.
wonderful question - - great idea. We get a lot of water from Colorado River and Hoover Dam - - but I do believe - - Our Desert Dry Area makes it so difficult to supply all the water that is needed....I think the easy answer is try to plant Desert Landscaping - - have Rock Yards and not grass -- that helps to save our water.
