During the past week I have seen two (2) bugs that I think are lizards. They are less than an inch long and can run really fast. Last night I tried to spray one but think I missed. Are they good or bad? Spraying inside my house is not scheduled until October. Maybe I should do it sooner.
If you think they look like a lizard, I'd bet you saw a gecko. No worries, if they are they eat lot's of bugs and will wait for an open door if they have nothing to much on and go back outside. Some people think I'm nuts for always keeping my doors closed especially the sliders on the patio, in a few months it will be important unless you like having roommates
I agree, Cynthia. We have all sorts of small lizards and skinks here in Illinois and we think they're great to have around. They race around the perimeter of our wrap-around porch and are very entertaining. Ours hibernate in the winter and come out again when it warms up enough for them. I'm looking forward to seeing what sorts of critters are commonplace in Sun City.
I just did a search for bugs of Arizona but couldn't find a red bug that Emily mentioned. Two inches is pretty big. While I was searching I looked at Geckos. Yep. That is probably what I have seen in my house. I too am careful where I walk in the house and always look down and wear shoes. Actually, sandals. Once there was a roach in the middle of my kitchen floor. I quickly gave it a nice drink aka poison.
I've had fantastic results using Malathilon and mixing it myself ! Once a month I spray the property lines and around the foundation of the house bur free 12yrs and running ride:
Just got back from a couple weeks vacation at our lake home in WI. We're in the process of closing a sale so this was our last stay after the cabin and island being in the family for 60 years. Too much upkeep and taxes way too high. It was a sad farewell. But.....the bugs! Crickets, deer flies, grasshoppers, a slew of different sized spiders, gnats and hummingbird sized mosquitoes. I feel fortunate that I escaped with less than a dozen bites and some of those were from "no see 'ems". The flowers, trees and wildlife will be missed. I'll take the occasional silverfish I see down here any day!
