Hey big boy, how did the closing go? Had to laugh when you said you were looking forward to becoming one of us.

Too cool, just means you are now officially...

    OLD.

Anticlimactic. Since we had filled out and sent the paperwork as well as wired the funds last week, our closing was just notification it was done. It will seem official when we get there this fall. While being one of you sounds great, it's the last part, in the huge font, I'm struggling with. :mask:

Here's my "get off my lawn" moment for today:

Don't consider it as being old, consider it as being not young. I've had the pleasure of being around some young people in the past couple of months, and boy am I glad I am not them.

I was thinking I may call myself "ripe". On second thought...

Being "ripe" in Sun City isn't a term you want to use brother. And let's be honest here, age is just a number.

My baby sister is about to close on a house. She'll be the second 3rd generationer in our family with the possibility of two more to come. She and her husband are still working but plan to come down for a week every three months to start. She's in the nursing profession so I'm sure she could easily find a job down here. I predict they'll be snowbirds by next winter.

Aggie - Congrats to your sister.

I think we are the "test" case for our family. I have one cousin thinking of moving to Florida - booooooo, if we can get down there before they make their final plans, I'm pretty sure she and her husband could be persuaded to move west.

And there-in lies the key, get folks to see Sun City before they buy somewhere else. Just know you'll be doing them a huge favor. Nothing more depressing to buy your perfect retirement home and then visit Sun City, only to find you made the blunder of a lifetime. As Aggie knows, Sun City is filled with second and third generation kids who saw what mom and dad had and couldn't wait to get here.

And Mick, this one's for you, old people really are special:

    Old People are Beautiful

When we get older we think differently. This letter was sent to the
Principal's office after the school had sponsored a luncheon for the
elderly. An elderly lady received a new radio at the lunch as a door
prize and was writing to say thank you. This story is a credit to all
humankind, especially if you are familiar with the elderly. Forward to
anyone you know who might need a lift today.

    Dear Kean Elementary,
God bless you for the beautiful radio I won at your recent senior
citizens luncheon. I am 84 years old and live at the Springer Home for
the Aged. All of my family has passed away. I am all alone now and
it's nice to know that someone is thinking of me. God bless you for
your kindness to an old forgotten lady.

My roommate is 95 and has
always had her own radio, but before I received one, she would never
let me listen to hers, even when she was napping. The other day her
radio fell off the night stand and broke into a lot of pieces. It was
awful and she was in tears. Her distress over the broken radio touched
me and I knew this was God's way of answering my prayer. She asked if
she could listen to mine, and I told her to kiss my ass.

    Thank you for that opportunity.
    Sincerely,
    Agnes

OMG, Bill!...if I'd have laughed any harder I'd have run serious risk of internal injury!

    BP - I hear ya'.
Because we are on the younger side of the retirement line, we have a lot of people interested in how this is going to work out, we think our home is kind of going to be a "stay and play".

Fine with us, we like hosting and entertaining...this should be a blast.

You'll love this house then V, we slept a dozen people at our place when dad died and they came down for the funeral. And the more they see us, they more they love us.

Extra people in the house makes Sunshine Service such an important benefit to Sun City. They provide everything from cribs, 2 sizes of rollaways to electric hospital beds. Free!

    So Mick...updates? Bride here yet?

    What gives?

The "bride" will be there the week after next. All of us to be there the first part of October. Before anyone gets worried, "all" does not include a bunch of extended family, just our pets. Bill - I'm getting my lawn bowling arm warmed up.

Hey Mick, if ma is in town without you and wants to join us Sunday night for the Token's at the Sun Bowl, give us a holler. There're be a dozen of us 60 something's all hanging out and we'll be glad to stop by and pick her up. I suspect we even have a spare outdoor chair we can bring along. Pretty laid back bunch so she should fit right in.

    Lemme know.

So is the bride pleased with your pick? Or are you headed off to see Judge Judy? Oh wait she doesn't do divorces does she?

I believe I'm safe. Whew! I must say though, I think I'd prefer Judy over doctor Phil.

I'm assuming this is the first time Mrs. Mullet has seen the new home? It's kind of a scary moment, right?

I did have a fifteen hundred mile cushion. That helped ease the tension. :calm:
