Yet another crazy idea for SC...

Clearly, I have too much time on my hands these days as I lull my way through a year of absolutely nothing (nice). This morning I opened my email and found a Groupon Goods promo for their Black Friday sale (I thought that was later in the year?). Anyway, as I was scanning through it I saw a "GoPro" camera setup for like $129.00.

It immediately sent my mind racing (it's a sickness). What if I were to buy it and then spend the next several months with it strapped to my head taking various video of Sun City? I mean like one thing a day, and targeting different clubs, events and venues. Lord knows I have both the time and the inclination.

Here's where I need your help: Anyone worked with a "GoPro" outfit? Does it record sound? I suspect I could do the Youtube thing with it, but is there a better storage arrangement? Any other thoughts?

    Help!

Yes, it will do audio - - Is it a "GoPro Hero" http://shop.gopro.com/cameras/hero/CHDHA-301.html

Are you looking to do something that would be kind of a "static" video (this is Sun City), or something that showcases Sun City (this is Sun City today xx/xx/2015)?

Why don't you do a vlog? A "day in the life" or whatever? "Sun City Seasons" - here we are with snowbirds, here we are w/o snowbirds? Or "Sun City Phases" - this is SC Phase One, and this is what you will find in Phase One (go to homes, businesses, rec centers, etc)....

    Possibilities are endless.

All of that is an option V, as you probably have noted by now, I am pretty clueless on the technology side of it. Is youtube the best option for storage? Does this site handle short video's? A minute or two would seem to me to give folks a taste of what awaits them and the endless options they face.

You Tube is the classic option, and it looks like this site only accepts jpg, jpeg, png, gif type files.

But you could "tease" the story with a few frames from the video and have a link to the full clip.

I work with a guy who was teaching his 7 year old daughter how to code and she wanted her project to be "finding out where their cat went during the day". He took her through the entire process, even doing the soldering needed to put the gps tracker together - it was a cool project. She had a hypothesis and it turned out great. Seems the cat really got around and covered more ground than anyone thought.
She was so happy with her project and the coolness of what she was doing, she asked her dad (you guessed it) if they could hook up a camera to the cat. She's putting together a vlog filled with the adventures of the cat.

So yesterday I spent hours researching the GoPro Hero compared to the Hero 4 black or silver. Then to make matters worse, there's the Hero 3 as well.

And if that wasn't bad enough. I start trying to understand why all of the cheaper Chinese versions won't do the same things at a fraction of the cost. Or how about a simple hand held video recorder.

Of course your comments V about a viog sent me scurrying to see what the heck that was. Geez, after all that reading, I'm more confused than I was when I started.

Welcome to my world BP...I'm currently setting up servers in the cloud. Does anyone think I know anything about the cloud? Does anyone think I care anything about the cloud? But yet, here I am working in the cloud. Somebody way overthought this entire process.

I thought "the cloud" was going down.

Oh no, the cloud is alive and well and becoming very crowded. Just like Amazon planned.
