Getting my juices flowing...

Okay, so summer is a little slow here in Sun City; 110+ degrees does that to people. Today I went to the RCSC board meeting, it only lasted an hour and a half. I wanted to see the latest numbers from the PIF. For the first 5 months of the years we had taken in just under 3 million dollars. When you add in
June, we'll be well over 3 million. For those of you math challenged, that comes out (at $3000 per property) between 1000 to 1200 homes sold the first six months of 2015. That averages out to 6 plus homes sold each and every day of the year (to date).

But, that 's not what got my juices flowing. I was talking to an old-timer (name with-held at this point) who bought in Sun City the 70's (before he was old enough to live here). He's more lucid than I am (which isn't saying much) and has lived in the community for 32 years. He's given me things for the museum before, but this time he wanted to tell me about something he had I may want to see.

Now I'm drooling (something I do often even when I'm not interested). But I stray; he told me he has some video he shot from the early 80's of life in Sun City. One shot in particular was footage of the musician that used to ride by his house with his base strapped to a cart behind his gas scooter. I used the photo in The Best of Sun City 2013/2014 but the idea he had captured it on video was too cool.

It immediately got me wondering exactly what else might be on there? And of course the real/reel potential would be to transfer it to a disk and use it in any number of ways. Then I started wondering, how many others may have some of this old footage around? I know for some, who cares? For me, just the idea of seeing the Sun City way of life preserved from 30 and 40 years back would be worth it's weight in gold.

Stay tuned, we're going to get together this summer and see what he's got.

I love this stuff about Sun City BPearson. So what if I didn't choose it as an AZ home? It's still a great place with great history and great people. I know it'll be there anytime in the future because of it's very, very strong history.

Hey Rusco: It's like I said in another thread, Sun City isn't for everyone. I've spent loads of hours on 55places and have come to understand there are far more attractive communities around than Sun City. We pale in comparison to most of them from a newer/nicer perspective.

That said, I've been reading your comments from the very beginning here and it struck me you were more cerebral than most. In fact, my first thought was you had joined in the discussions because you had a background in the business and were at least intrigued by what we offered potential buyers.

It's why I so often talk about the intangibles. I desperately want people to move to Sun City who both appreciate and understand the history. I want them to look beyond just the value and to get a firm grasp on the values. We existed without selling people on Sun City before they got here for the past 50 years. Imagine what it could be like by attracting those who wanted to be a part of building something even better, simply because they knew what they were buying into.

I have been following you on City-data and I wish you and your wife nothing but the best. No matter where you live, you will love it. You've put the time and energy in and have found what's right for you. That's all that matters to me. And besides, there's already too many people standing in line to get into Sun City.

Today at the board meeting someone said they heard the first 25 homes at the KHov Development are already spoken for. The list of interested parties is in the neighborhood of a 100 or more and once those new models hit, all heck will break loose in this community. Seriously, the next 10 years here will be exciting, stimulating and beyond what anyone would ever have expected.

I look forward to it, because that was one of the intangibles that was attractive to me.

Best wishes wherever you go brother. The only thing that matters is that you and the bride enjoy it.

Keep in touch, we love having you as a part of the forum.

    Emily,
    Is this the link? http://www.frugal-retirement-living.com/

    BP,
The first 25 are spoken for? How can that be? I'm on that "interested" list, and I haven't heard a word from the KHov people.

Don't know how the man making the statement knew that, seems to me he is tied into the POSSE and had heard it around. I'm on the list as well and have heard nothing. I know a month ago there were 80 plus names on the list. I can't imagine committing to buy a house without seeing the floor plans and knowing the price.

I am on the list and have heard not a word. No emails, phone calls, or mail from KHov.
