My wife & I are seniors and are considering moving from Maryland to Sun City. We've visited the area four times in the past several years and fell in love with the climate, people and of course Sun City!

I am a military retiree and have Medicare AND “Tricare For Life” for my health insurance. I know the Sun City area has a large military population, active and retired, and am wondering what the healthcare climate is like there.

For those of you that use Medicare and “Tricare For Life”, do you have trouble finding doctors & hospitals that accept Medicare AND “Tricare For Life”?

Thanks for any advice you folks can provide.

Also, as a military retiree, Luke Air Base is just a few miles west. The VA satellite office is in Surprise, off Grand Ave, just South of Meeker. There is little trouble in finding service providers that accept Medicare. Tricare is also well known in the area, and with the number of veteran retirees in the area, am going to say it is an available tool for you as well in the area.

You will love Sun City it has all the amenities you need and a wide variety of activities.

Arizona itself offers lots to do and see.

Go to the Visitor Center (across from the Bell Library) for information.

I even like the summer. Air conditioned car to air conditioned building.
Sure beats slipping on the ice!

I was hoping you found your way to this website. Lots of helpful people here.

My mom was taken very good care of at Del Webb and she had no trouble finding a good doctor here in Sun City. I love Dr. Sachdiva. He is very skilled and has a wonderful caring approach to medicine. I do not know what Tri Care is so perhaps others can help you there. So, welcome soon to warm winters.

Susan, per the Luke website, it states:
    56th Medical Group

The 56th Medical Group, located near Phoenix, is an outpatient only Medical Treatment Facility (MTF), which serves more than 90,000 beneficiaries (active duty military members, retirees and their families) in the immediate area. The Medical Group is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. The Medical Group, with more than 600 assigned personnel, has a three-pronged mission that emphasizes providing great healthcare, promoting safety and wellness, and military readiness.

So, based upon the word "retirees", I would guess it is an option for clinic services. I do know from others that hospital and specialist care is done outside of the Luke facility on TriCare. I am not military, but my stepdad was. Here is the link that I used to verify what the "clinic" offers:

Hope this helps, and can't wait to have you in Sun City!!!
