How tightly are you holding on?

image.jpg There are things we want to remember and things we'd rather forget. It's all in your grip and it's your decision to let go and move on or keep white knuckling it.

    What's on your Christmas list?

The more mature we get, the less stuff we need... Add our wish list to this one.

    Are you waiting for inspiration?

From the Marc and Angel Hack Life site: "What a disgrace it would be for you to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of your full potential." Many of us are sitting around waiting to get started. What is your excuse for failing to live up to your full potential? image.jpg

Finally, a real snowman and snowwoman

image.jpg I love Christmas, but living in the desert, I feel that Christmas is hiped so much it seems more like a Hallmark story. All the snow, Santa's, and traditional Christmas decorations actually make me a bit homesick for the Christmases of my childhood in Iowa. But, now I'm a desert dweller, and I love it here. I celebrate Christmas by enjoying the gift of our beautiful desert environment, which is a gift from the creator who also created Christmas.

    Are you ready for Christmas?

071.jpg The picture of the Christmas tree is one I took several years ago. This year, I've put up a small wall-hanging tree, and I find I enjoy it as much as the big tree. More importantly, is how we live the season. I got this "reminder" at a holiday gathering last evening:

Mend a quarrel. Seek out a forgotten friend.
Dismiss suspicion and replace it with trust.
Write a love letter. Share some treasure.

Give a soft answer. Encourage youth.
Manifest your loyalty in word and deed.
Keep a promise. Find the time.

Forego a grudge. Forgive an enemy.
Listen. Apologize if you were wrong.
    Try to understand.

Laugh a little. Laugh a little more.
    Deserve confidence.
    Take up arms against malice.
    Decry complacency.

    Express your gratitude.
    Say a prayer.
    Welcome a stranger.
Gladden the heart of a child.
Take pleasure in the beauty and wonder of the earth.

Speak your love Speak it again. Speak it still once again.

    Think happy thoughts...

image.jpg I wonder how many people are happy today while rushing around to shop, making hundreds of cookies, addressing the Christmas card envelopes, going to parties... I decided to make this a quiet Christmas and am happy about not going through the busyness. However, there is a part of me that feels I'm missing something. Maybe, I need to do as my mother always says, "Think happy thoughts."

How well do you know your friends, neighbors?

image.jpg I tend to like everyone until they give me a reason to not want to remain friends. My best friend takes new relationships slowly, and when she is ready to lock into a friendship, it is forever. It would be a shame to not discover the good in someone by just looking at a first impression.

    We still have time!

image.jpg What things from 2013 do you need to either address or give up to make room for 2014? I know it is easier said, then done, but we have just a couple of days left to try to eliminate bulk thoughts and stuff before the new year and new you!

I hope to keep plugging along trying to get small things taken care of each day. When I think about ALL the things I have to accomplish it can be overwhelming. It's important to learn to say "no" if you know you can't fulfill an obligation with your best efforts.

    Therapist needed?

image.jpg Good friends are more precious than gold. I have found it difficult to develop good friendships in Sun City. Where have you found your best friends?

    Inspired today

image.jpg Have not posted for awhile. Have you noticed the influx of residents on the roads. Wow. I was gone for three weeks and when I came back, I needed to remind myself that I no longer rush or am impatient--because I am retired. May have to revisit that thought before the snowbirds leave. How do you practice being patient?
