I have been leaving my front door open for a few hours in the morning.

AC still comes on in the afternoon.

These cooler mornings and evenings are such a blessing after a long hot summer. Weather like this is why we stay in AZ.

    Mercury is rising!

image.jpg The Phoenix Mercury won a spot in the next round of playoffs. My husband and I went to a game Saturday night in which they lost. The players had a hard time hitting the hoop.

I played basketball in high school (in Iowa) and know how important each shot is. When the team lost by a few points, I'd think to myself, "What if??? What if I'd made those easy layups or had field a few more rebounds.

Well, the What if's in life don't count. It is the ability to shrug off the missed basket and work harder to make the next one.

Cheer on the wonderful Mercury team tonight!

    Books

image.jpg Someone posted that their favorite author is Lauraine Snelling. She is one of my favorite's also. I sat next to her at her table at Mount Hermon Christian Writer's Conference in California in 2012. I took the attached picture of her as she signed a child's book for me. She is very dear and so friendly. If you want to keep up with her, check her out on Facebook. She posts frequently.

    Do you have Common Sense?

image.jpg Sometimes i wonder, When the train full of common sense pulled up to the station, why some people let it pass by?

Are you still trying to concur Plan A?

image.jpg Sometimes we get stuck...in a rut...and don't know how to get out. It is important for all of us to have a Plan B. The "what if" plan. What if I fall and break a leg...what if my car breaks down while I'm on the road...what if I can't hear my phone ring...what if I'm worried about who will take care of me?

My husband might consider me to be a worry wart about the future because I like to plan ahead. I don't like surprises (except birthday parties or a bouquet of flowers for no reason). I feel secure when I know I have a Plan B.

    Happy planning!

    Stuff

image.jpg Today my husband and I had brunch with my son, his girlfriend and her parents, and our thirteen-year old granddaughter. It was a great sitting by her and catching up on what's going on in her life. I wouldn't trade someone's winning lottery ticket for such time with people I love.

What's more important to you than stuff?

    Life goes on....

image.jpg What helps you when you've taken a beating, lost someone or something you love or care about it? Sun City folks seem to have a tenacity -- something we need more of the older we get.

    Autumn in the air?

uny-2008065.jpg I took this picture a few years ago along the Delaware River in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. We were camping along the river in our RV, and I caught this great shot with the haze above the river before I had breakfast.

When it's still hot, and there are few leaves changing color, I sometimes wish I lived in an area where the trees change color...but then I remember what follows autumn...winter, and I'm most happy to be here.

All you have to do today is breathe!

Breathe okay.jpg Sometimes I feel lazy and that is okay! We've put in our time on the 8-5 routines of life, and occasionally it feels good to just be.

    It's a good life...

A good life.jpg If you haven't figured out that retirement is a good life, then you are either trying to survive financially or are too busy to notice how much fun everyone else is having. What's your secret for a good life in Sun City?

A good life in Sun City is keeping active volunteering and swimming.

    To old to be taught...naught.

image.jpg A day is not complete until you say you have learned something new. What did you learn yesterday that you can use today?
