Way awesome news as the candidate packets to be considered for the RCSC board of directors have be submitted today. It looks like we will have more candidates running than any time in the past twenty years. The election committee has done a marvelous job of inspiring residents to step forward and get involved. This years election will give people choices based on agendas and the candidates vision for the future of the community. Here's where I need your help: The RCSC has decided to let folks vote online. A new web portal has been set up so residents can book tee times, pay their rec fees and an assortment of other things (including voting for the candidates). My question to each of you: Should their be more ways for residents to vote than just via the internet? Pretty straight forward gang and obviously for those who are computer literate an easy answer...but...
I think this should read "The RCSC is requiring that all folks must vote electronically." This should be an option along with the accepted absentee ballot for those not wishing to obtain email access or unable to physically go to a location to vote. The extended period for voting will help but online voting still should be an option.
Thanks for responding aggie. Not sure why the reluctance on the part of others but I would love to hear their thoughts. And, I couldn't agree more; online voting is a great option, but if that's the only way...ouch! This election will be by far the most interesting in years. Hopefully the election process won't turn people off and kill the excitement of a real race. Time will tell eh?
How can we trust electronic voting? How can we prevent the old-fashioned "ballot-box stuffing"? Who will oversee that there is no corruption? With written ballots turned in on Election Day only, opposing sides and all candidates can watch the counting of the ballots in person. By the way, is the board going to have people standing outside the polling places distributing lists with the board's favorite three? Will others be able to do that to have fair competition? If the board's favorite isn't elected, will the board get a newly-elected board member to surprisingly resign so that the board can install him like they did when Craig Brown lost re-election? It appears the "inspiration" causing the increase of candidates is due to the board's penchant for ruining the clubs with extra fees for guests and rentals. Online voting will assure the success of the board's favorite three. Unless there is a way to make sure the votes are valid, we oppose online voting at the RCSC.
Favorite 3? Really? I don't even know who the candidates are and already the air is filled with claims of games. God help us eh? Here's what I hope people will do: Attend the candidate forums, ask solid questions about what the candidates want for Sun City and then cast your vote based on what you hear. Pretty simple eh? The really interesting aspect of the above post is to see just how many of the candidates are disgruntled with the way Sun City is being run eh? Just curious Ann; how many of those running are from the registry? That will be interesting to sort out eh? Eh=practicing for the return of all my Canadian friends
Oh the snowbirds are coming back. Our club counter was full of pastries and I feel the pounds coming back with them....
