bird in hand is worth two in the bush
    - do not risk losing something that you have
by trying to get something that is not certain

Isn't that what Thumper said in the movie Bambi?

I have purged my speech of those mean bird expression: a bird in hand is worth two in the bush & kill two birds with one stone.

I always wonder why people complain about an issue, but never have a solution, nor do they give details of why they dislike an issue or a person. I promise if I have a complaint, I will give a suggestion as to how it can be resolved, or I'll just keep the complaint to myself. :eek:nthego:

That's an interesting decision. I think there are a lot of expressions that de-mean animals (whether intentionally or not) and I also try to avoid some of them since there is power in speech....

Sounds like the term "constructive criticism" and I'm all for it!

Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering ~Yoda

Do you see fear in the eyes of your neighbors, friends, children?

Do you know who wrote this comment? (Paraphrased from original quote.)

"Do not let evil defeat you, but defeat evil by doing good."

    Have a great day!

    A little humor today...

    Are you still a brat?

image.jpg I love this! Whatever you call it, behavior disorder or being a brat, it happens to seniors, also. And, some seniors feel they deserve to act childish. What do you think?

discretion is the better part of valor
    - it is better to be careful and use discretion
than to be too courageous and take unnecessary risks

I am grateful posters to SCTalk appear to be more interested in the subject matter of Sun City Inspiration than the political concerns of this community. Could it be the people of Sun City just want to live in peace with opportunities for wonderful amenities and safety?

"Just traveling along, singing a song..."

image.jpg Many seniors say, "I've traveled, and I'm done with that." If you are thinking travel is about getting on an airplane and going to a foreign country, that may be something a bit to adventurous.

When you leave your home, you are traveling somewhere. Along your journey, you can enjoy the sights and sounds of your neighborhood. Should you venture outside of Sun City, one only has to go a few miles to see new sights. Enjoy your travel, wherever it may take you. Take a buddy with you and sing, "side by side."

Inspired by a little additional cash in your pocket?

image.jpg I entered the Sun City Talk Summer Promotion and you can see the results. These folks want us to promote SCT and I'm a believer that what they say will come through. Thanks to the folks who created this project.

    Coming out of hibernating

image.jpg Good morning! I'm a porch sitter--especially first thing in the morning where I eat breakfast, drink a mug of green tea, and meditate. This morning the air feels a bit of autumn in it, (without the aid of misters) and every now and then there is a breeze not generated by a box fan.

Lower temperatures invite us outdoors again. What activities will you return to that you've been waiting for? -- Hiking? Yard work? Spending time at the lake--here or at Lake Pleasant?

Each day is a gift -- unwrap it and enjoy!

Are you on top of the mountain today?

image.jpg The picture is of my son who tries to hike at least once a week in the Phoenix area or around the state. It helps him focus on the week coming up -- to use nature as a way to ground himself. "Grounding" on top of a mountain seems a bit funny to one who is afraid of heights (me).

We are blessed in Sun City to walk on good sidewalks around neighborhoods in which residents take pride in their lawns, folks walking animals willing to say hello or nod their heads good morning. We are also blessed to have our lovely own little mountain at Lakeview. It is a place where I go to be refreshed in the spirit--not often enough.

I hope I will meet you on top of the mountain some day soon!

    Spreading the good stuff

image.jpg It would be a wonderful world if we could treat each other more kindly. Beginning with oneself.
