I do a lot of reading but don't want comments showing up in the Independent. Has anyone found out the connection? What organization is TOSC affiliated with?
Probably the "guests"you see visiting the board are search bots not actual people. Some boards will show how many visitors are actual guests and how many are bots, mostle from Google.
I didn't know bots would be listed as guests but I suppose anything reading is counted. Google and other search engines send out automatic searches for info so they can list it. Those searchers are called bots (it's a program not a human). Some websites do have the ability to block bots; don't know if TOSC can or does block.
OK I just tested it out. Yes the bots are collecting every post. I copied an older post of mine (to give the bots time to search) pasted it into Google and it appeared. Personally I don't care much since my full name is not here. But if someone searches for info on Sun City, they will find our posts. I doubt they want to block the bots as our posts become a lure for more people to come here.
