coyote family 6-11-2010.JPG coyote mom & pup 6-11-2010.jpg

I often see coyote families walking around my neighborhood. When I walk on the Sun City Streets early - - a.m. I have seen up to 6 in their pack. These pics were taken on the Lakeview Golf Course - - what an awesome family including the pups ! ! It amazes me how - - when at my desk in my home computer room - - I will see a coyote or two - walk across my front yard... Guess they were here before we were !

Some photos from the Gilbert Water Park - - this area is home of many different types of fine-feathered-friends. An interesting place for everyone - - especially bird lovers and photographers ! The trails are very easy to walk - -the park in general is lovely. Gilbert, AZ --Water Ranch.

Just saw a lone one on 99th Dr. near 99th and T-bird. Heard a strange noise and looked up and there it was. Surprised to just see one like that though as I thought they band together.

Oh, My ! ! Trouble in Paradise. Several of my neighbors as well as myself have seen mouse/rat droppings around our properties....I have not encountered or seen any around -- but their evidence is clear ! ! One of my neighbors had chewed up air conditioning wires and had to have the service for her A.C. repair it... What to do & how would you rid your area of these pests ?

The thread "Ratty Rodents" has article about roof rats posted there. I have one of those little machines that are supposed to send out frequency that sends them on their way, so might be worth looking those up. I'd be for getting one of those "have a heart" traps to trap it live and see what you're dealing with instead of poisons that will poison other creatures or have them die slowly or rip off their feet in glue traps or die and rot in your walls. Someone up the street put out pellet poison and we kept finding little dead bunnies for weeks afterwards. Also, the predatory birds are hurt by poisons since they eat the creature and then you've succeeded in killing a hawk or owl who regularly feast on the pests. I don't like to use traps, but an old fashioned break their backs one is better than poison. In NY we always got field mice coming in and I got the little no-kill traps, took them to a field and we were all happier. Hunt for their entrances and plug up those holes, etc. and continue to encourage everyone to pick up their fruit and stop throwing bread and food around their yards. Pigeons are also becoming more of a problem due to the latter.

I've read a downside to those no-kill traps. When you remove them to another spot they have lost the home territory they know about and are quickly killed by predators. Not to say you shouldn't use them, just some info I read about it.

You're right about that, but I'd rather it feed a predator than have a predator die from a poisoned one.

I wouldn't never put down poison bait either. Too many accidents with other animals eating them.

Schoa put out a note indicating they will be having a meeting in the near future regarding home security AND how to keep you home Rodent Free.
Might be an interesting event !
