I love my Sun City, and Love my AZ location of living, and yet, I am wondering -- - "How do the birds, rabbits, and all those lizards survive in this heat ? I have no problem with Hot & Dry - - but, Oh, My ! ! The recent humidity ! Humidity takes a toll on my breathing as well as my pitiful arthritis..... So --my answer to all the "oh whoa is me ".. I have been going to one of the Rec Centers for a workout and tread mill - -instead of early walking in the neighborhood -- avoid that early a.m. air quality. The Rec Center's pools are a plus in the afternoons... at least you can get 'goose bumps' - -when it is 100 degrees (only) getting out of that pool.(even with a high humidity) The plus is - - stay in a wet swim suit - -as long as you can - - aka: instant evap cooling ! ! So my question still is : How do the birds & rabbits & lizards survive - -when I am Draggin' ?
And -- how do those nasty little ants keep crawling on those HOT Cement sidewalks ! ! :tranquillity: Know they are little creatures of God -- but, do not want them in my flower beds, and or my house ! !
I see people using an umbrella. Not for rain but for sun!:tranquillity: Click HERE for information about how the weather effects arthritis. Interesting.
I remember seeing on one of those nature shows that in the real hot deserts the lizards alternate which feet touch the hot ground, so that is one adaptation.
I don't like sneakers, never have, but I bought a pair when we spent the summer in Sun City because my cumfy walking shoes did not do enough to protect my feet from the hot cement......I'd come home from a walk with really hot sweaty feet. The dogs didn't like it much either, though Cavaliers have fuzzy feet and I think the hair on the bottom, that I trim the rest of the year, I left during the summer to insulate them against the hot pavement.
