So John, did you withdraw your lawsuit?

Satire is definitely not in your vocabulary.

The topic is in regards to seeking input from readers about the lawsuit filed by a single individual with the intent to have a positive outcome for the entire membership.
I am asking that we at least make a modicum of effort to be respectful and kind and not take the thread off topic. I made it a point to not post anything on TOSC all weekend. This was my effort to watch what developed during that time.
I am most aware of the fact there are numerous opinions about a myriad of issues. If you feel strongly enough about your own opinion and experiences, post a new thread. Please allow the discussion to continue uninterrupted on the respective threads and it will abate itself in its own manner. I have been guilty of hijacking threads, and am sorry for doing so.
    Thank you

As per the usual, you have no idea what you are talking about. My stint with legal did not involve criminal representation as we were precluded by law from handling such matters. We had two attorneys in the Englewood office, the supervising attorney formerly did insurance defense work and the other did voter rights work in the South. I was the paralegal. Did we know gang members, yes we did but mostly from sight. Then generally protected us from the common street criminals because “ they worked in that lawyer office helping people. They helped my mama with a landlord thing.” Finally, I never saw those lawyers or the ones from 18th Street after 1977 when I embarked on my career. So stuff it Josie.

Even when I lived in Wrigleyville my first years, the Latin Kings watched out for the hood. The same guys saw me leave for work in the morning and come home at night. They even came up to the roof (best view in baseball) a few times. They just sat on some chairs that were left up there, offered them some my beer and we talked baseball. I even invited them one time when Fernando was pitching for the Dodgers. I felt much safer with them watching out for the hood than the Chicago police which had a precinct station three blocks away. What can I say, sometimes you have the most unlikely of friends.

Knowing you Josie, you don’t believe this so come over sometime and see The Wall of Fame, but I know you won’t because you like to “”drop a dime” and then walk away from the responses because that is who you are.

Should this have been a new thread?

First, I like your quote as you seem to run away from the truth.

I wouldn’t mind a separate thread as long anything legal is limited to persons actually having a working knowledge of the law. It makes for a more erudite interaction.

So continue lying and when called on it you walk away saying you don’t care. There is a term for that, coward, wear it proudly because it fits you Josie.

Janet, what you have to understand is 5hat I worked with attorneys for 40 years plus officers at large insurance brokerage houses, they have a snarky sense of what is known gallows humor. My attitude reflects this. I was restrained during the by laws committee, but suppressed many of my colorful assessments. You have to view through my sense of humor.

John, I think we should sit down and have lunch sometime and have a lengthy discussion on stuff, such as my position on MBAs and any other topic that comes up. I’m not the ogre you think I am. Yes I have a temper as I am my father’s son.

For the record I have had a gun pointed at me five times less than three feet away in a Chicago neighborhood that would make you piss in your pants.
When at legal aid I represented vets in the first Agent Orange cases, 1973-75 and not surprisingly lost. I also represented vets on local VA appellate matters as their representative at the hearing level was well meaning but incompetent.

I don’t like being called a coward and don’t do it again. I have spent my life in public service in one way, shape or another and have stood up to bigger bullies than around here. I am not a barbarian but I do read about them. I like to read on anything that interests me and I have a rather large curiosity net. I don’t apologize for my skill set although some people have a hard time grasping what my career was and what I needed to know. My attitude, you work with attorneys for over 50 years and see what kind of attitude you develop.

Hope we can get together sometime and I actually own a saber, I inherited from my brother and it was a military ceremonial saber. Just thought you would like to know.

Now back to the battle of Crecy and why the French never learned anything from being on the wrong end of the Welsh low bow. Sorry for my deep love of history but it goes back to third grade I believe.

There is no such place as West Sand Dune NE, but that part of the state is beautiful. Wide open spaces, fresh air, low population per square mile, and friendly, hard working, intelligent people. I wouldn't knock it. I would much prefer to live and work there than metro Chicago where my son and his family live. The Sandhills have three highly rated golf courses which are a destination for golfers. I haven't played any of them because they are too expensive for me. Also the Niobrara River is ranked as one of the top ten scenic rivers to canoe. I have done that three or four times. Beautiful waterfall and rapids! Lots of history, both Native American and pioneer settlers. We visited Fort Robinson this past summer. Not only that, but people out there are very kind. Not the kind that insult other people. If you are striving for serenity, that might be a place to go.

I asked, in a kind and sincere way, for the hijacking of threads and their topics to please stop. I thought I was being genuine in my message to try to put an end to this continuing assault upon posters that takes the message so far away from its original intent. Apparently, I was in error.
So, what is it going to take to get this written BS to stop appearing on TOSC? I, for one, have had my share of the “discussion”, or endless arguments and accusations about the most inane things to ever surface on a chat board. So, sit down and STFU! I will support, to the fullest, the ability to post one’s own thoughts and opinions, but when it’s endless barbs and insults, ad nauseam, stealing the intent and the spirit of the topic, it’s time to call the behavior out. Give it a f*cking break!
My best guess is the intent is to shut down TOSC? Most of the regular people have been run off this site and will not return because of the tone of the messages. Add to that the lack of respect for the topic and the author, and it becomes an exercise in frustration and anger.
Last I heard this is supposed to be a community of adults. What does it take to actually act like tact and respect exists here? In my opinion, of course.

You friend has a weird sense of humor. Satire is fine in many situations but not all. I use it often. When writing, one has to think of the audience. Blogs might not be the best place since the readers might not know who you are.
