All we have to decide now is where the water will be coming from. Between the chip manufacturing which takes a lot of water and the worker families that will be living in the area. Not to be the bearer of such news but we are 34 years into a drought and news like this has to be thought through.

Trump wants to win the Nobel Peace prize, give Ukraine every weapon they want both offensive and defensive until October and will be willing to make any deal. They will be bankrupt as a country by then. On the other hand Trump is a Russkie asset along with the Fake Hillbilly and the entire right wing media. Consequently, Trump does not want to humiliate Putin because he might release the pee tape as retribution. Anyway Ukraine could receive hugely land concessions and gain strong security guarantees. At the moment what is Trump offering, taking 50% of mineral wealth and Ukraine gets a cease fire which Putin will violate at first opportunity. Never trust the Russkies, Saint Ronnie of fake cowboy land never did. Russian position, what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is negotiable.

As usual, you missed the point completely, mineral deal that US gets a ton of money and does nothing to secure Ukraine’s right to exist, the war as it stands, Russia has run out of options to finance the minimum they are doing now as their last source of funds is good for 4 months at the most. After that Russia is bankrupt and no bank will lend them funds for this war. This is a huge loss for Putin and strikes at the heart of his invulnerability. He was stupid to start this and he will worse off when it ends. There could be a possibility of a military coup. Khrushchev was removed after coming out on the short end of the stick regarding the Cuban Missile Crisis because he underestimated at the Vienna Conference. Putin underestimated Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people.

    Still don’t trust the Russkies.

I don't think any of us trust the Russians. There is speculation that Russia is running out of money and the support of his countrymen but that is just speculation. Hope you are right and the tyrant will go down. Just wondering how many will be killed in the days until then. Theory is that the US will have a presence in Ukraine if we have rights to mineral deals so Putin wouldn't dare to continue bombing. Sounds like Mr. Zelensky is ready to talk after realizing that he acted like a spoiled child at the Oval Office. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you!

Janet, no speculation about the financial straights, Politico article from last week outlined in depth his problems. No speculation, just facts. Read it. The theory is the US will protect Ukraine because of the Rare Mineral deal. First it is a theory and second verbal promises aren’t worth the paper they’re written on.Do you really believe that a bunch of workers from Freeport-McMoran and/or Halliburton are going to hold off a battalion of Spesnaz soldiers? I don’t think so. So without US boots on the ground, another invasion is possible. Remember the Russkies play the long game.

Zalenskyy may be ready to talk but what is Putin offering? Doesn’t make any difference he won’t keep the agreement anyway. As for the Oval Office meeting last Friday, I think Trump summed it up perfectly with his last sentence before leaving, “ That was great television wasn’t it?” The whole think was a set up for Trump to look like something he is not, a strong man.

Mediabias.com rates Politico "Left of Center" so you know the slant they write their articles. "They often publish factual information that utilizes loaded words (wording that attempts to influence an audience by appeals to emotion or stereotypes) to favor liberal causes. These sources are generally trustworthy for information but may require further investigation."
