I am looking for suggestions for a good location of a webcam in Sun City.

Please post your idea and maybe why it would be a good place.

Then I will forward suggestions to RCSC and see what they say.

That's a tough one....I'm sure those who would be interested in a web cam would like it on their Rec Center.....Lakeview would be my choice, though I use Oakmont more often.

If you want to promote Sun City, install it at the most beautiful location. Lakeview has great views in the photos.

It might be fun to have webcams in various locations around Sun City......like "Eye on Lakeview" or "Eye on Bell Rec Center"....even an "Eye on the Sun City dog park"......They really aren't that expensive to install and maintain. Our local message board here in CO has them all over the mountain towns.

I watch several bird cams and they all complain about the cost...that is if you want to have them without commercials (about $400 a month) if you use Livestream or ustream. If someone runs them from Sun City themselves it does take some knowledge to do it plus the equipment. If you don't care about the frequent advertisements they are free except for the cost of the cameras.

Most of the ones we use here are on private property, owned and maintained by individuals. The web cams themselves are less than $40, with built in server about $100-$300....and yes, you do need the right equipment or use a service that will upload the video/still pictures and make them available. Very few are live cams, they mostly take a pic every few seconds to every few minutes and then the pics are uploaded for others to view. Like anything, you can spend as much or as little as you want......live streaming video is probably cost prohibitive, and probably not necessary for this application.
