Regarding the Bylaws - they were approved at the last Board meeting -- FIRST READ.

    I don't remember BP#32 having a second read.

Both Stella and I spoke at length at a meeting about the policies and bylaws.

Is this something that we could take up as an amendment at the Annual Membership meeting or are they considered "Matters relating to the conduct of the business affairs" listed here:
The bylaws may be amended, modified, revised or revoked by the directors or by the members. In the event of conflict concerning the bylaws as amended, modified, revised or revoked by the directors, the action of the Members shall prevail. Proposals or matters relating to the conduct of the business affairs of the Corporation, if brought before a Membership meeting, shall be referred to the Board for study. Such matters, being solely within the powers delegated to the Board in accordance with the laws of the State of Arizona and Corporate Documents, will be considered only as a recommendation to the Board.

The committees are working jointly in preparation of the new RCSC website launch in February.

Curious about the company creating our new RCSC website at an estimated $350,000?

Outreach & Communications Committee October 17, 2024 Summary
“Discussion was had on the new website. Chair Nettesheim proposed that the Technology Committee and our committee work together to come up with a change management plan for the new web site as it’ll be different. Maybe engage the Computer Club also. We would like joint meetings from mid-November through January. What are our thoughts about the new web site?

Mike Ege said it’s a good idea to do this before it goes live. Suchindran Chatterjee is on the Technology Committee too and thinks it’s a natural collaboration idea.

Chair Nettesheim says this will be number one on our action plan. We need to concentrate on user acceptance testing and feedback on bugs. Chair Nettesheim will start scheduling the meetings. The Technology Committee has their monthly meeting on the second Wednesday of the month at 4:00pm and a brainstorming meeting on the third Wednesday of the month, we could use those meeting times.

We will have three joint meetings. Mike Ege thinks we will be on the creative side and the Technology Committee will work on the content.

We want to make the roll out smooth and bug free. We don’t have a link yet. We will see the TALLWAVE presentation.

They will do a presentation at the February Exchange. Target to roll out and go live is the third week of February.“

From Sun City Gal - "I will say it again, until such time a strategic and comprehensive plan is put into action for Sun City, stop with spending and speculating what is going to happen. Data and information analysis is in great need for our city and the longer it takes to get to a cognizant level of efficiency in decision making, the bigger the quagmire becomes."

Completely agree and I have been preaching the same thing for years. While on the Board I made a motion to require the GM to develop a 5-year strategic plan for review and discussion. (Kevin had already developed a forecast model). So, what does the GM do? Forms a hand-picked 5-year committee to meet in private and develop a one-page spreadsheet that purports to be a five-year plan. No one will ever know who was involved or what was said.

My argument (shared by many) is that a strategic or master plan approved by the members makes everyone's life easier and exposes small special interest groups request for special treatment for resource requests. The Board then becomes the overseer of the implementation of the master plan (and not the grantor of special requests). Management then implements the plan and monitors trends to see if the plan needs to be updated.

It is as simple as that.

Or as I said above Comm Tech is an IT service company. Could it be this is part of the $300k set aside back in June for the upgrade to our Website.IT in general? You are letting your arrogance get in the way of listening to people who just may be right.

    Hello Jean,

I wanted to take a moment to respond to your question regarding the CommTech Committee Meetings.

The Outreach and Communications Committee and the Technology Committee have agreed to join together to put a plan together with the new website for the next couple of months. They are incredibly focused on the members and want to be ready to properly assist in the changes the new website brings and to help communicate in the best way possible.

It is basically the Technology Committee inviting the OCC committee to their monthly meetings and the OCC committee inviting the tech committee to their monthly meeting.

    Thanks,

    Thanks for sharing, Jean.

Mike Dirmyer has always responded quickly to my email inquiries and suggestions. Action promised, action taken.

Not all leaders and board members do.

Pleased to see he did with you, too.
