I personally love the idea of video taping our board meetings but there is a fair amount of resistance from the current board. You may or may not be aware but last year we changed the structure to go from quarterly membership meetings to one annual meeting. 4 or 5 years ago the board changed the quorum requirements for membership meetings from 100 to 3500 and then reduced it to 1250. Sadly, even with those changes, that created a situation where we never had membership meetings. Our first annual meeting was last year and it rained buckets that day. We still brought about 600 people through, but didn't meet the required number needed to hold an official meeting. I struggle with the quorum requirements, but again I am in the minority on the board. At the very least, when we hold this meeting in 2014, it should be videotaped and available on our website. I feel strongly about many of these changes to better appeal to the boomers who will be buying here but until we get board members who are more progressive, we'll stay stuck in the past.
I know a gathering didn't work out for July, but any chance for August before all the regular committees start up again in Sept.?
I'll try and put something together. Just been a bad couple of months with the work going on at the house.
Hey BPearson, I'm glad you put the info on 55places, that is how I found you guys. We are a few years away yet (about 5) unless something changes drastically for us. Honestly this forum has given me a awesome view of the original Sun City community and I am excited to eventually become part of it.
Great. I know at one point you mentioned breakfast, which is still a good strategy since hey, everybody's gotta eat. So much the better for RCSC coffers if we drop the bucks in one of the snack shops....
I think our best shot is the Lakeview Café for breakfast scj; or would you rather do a snack shop at a golf course? And thanks for mentioning 55places BruceW. It is one of my favorite sites and what better place to put a spotlight on the community eh? The funny thing is as nice as those other communities are, they pale in comparison. All of us that live here love to see newbies finding Sun City and how it almost leaves them breathless.
Guess it depends how many are anticipated. I'm not sure of the capacities. George's would be okay, but then you get the waitstaff and checks, etc. Go to a RCSC snack shop and not only do we pump the bucks into "our" investment, but ordering at the counter simplifies it.
