I'll tell you why Mike Ege is not included!!! Mike Ege, with his creation of Sun City Radio (scazradio.com) and technological audio-visual expertise, recorded his own video presentation at his own studio with his own backdrop! An unnamed member of the Election Committee decided that his presentation was too professional looking and that would give him an unfair advantage over the remaining candidates so it was not allowed! It's still unclear if Mike will have the opportunity or desire to record it at the RCSC facility, which I thought, now that they have their own dedicated space at Sun Dial, was suppose to be a more state-of-the-art, professional studio than the use of the Board Room that has been used in previous years? I can tell you this, as a member of the Election Committee, and as far as I know, no other members of the Election Committee were involved or consulted with the decision. Personally speaking, I would have liked to have seen Mike's video and have been included in the decision! Isn't campaigning part of the process when running for an office? Why is Mike's personal video any different than past years when certain candidates flooded the community with their own campaign signs? Couldn't that be considered an advantage as well? Needless to say, I am disappointed in the decision that was made, and I'm disappointed that the Election Committee as a whole never had the opportunity to be included in the decision. I hope they give Mike the opportunity to re-record his message because without his video, it gives the remaining candidates the unfair advantage!!!!! Just my opinion.
FYI, thank you for explaining yet another disappointing example of questionable decisions by those we hoped to trust.
With this and the PAC and the secrecy, residents not having any say about this community is not making a lot of people happy they live here right now. Self-governance?
Here's Mike Ege's Board Candidate Video. Please pass it along ad post it on any other social media site you may be a member of so that Mike gets his fair share of publicity and is not campaigning at a disadvantage.
Shared ND as an add on to Chris T's post. For some reason the whole post was missing including Mr. Ege's. Reposted as a stand alone.
No worries, our own little tattler was sure to tell all on ND why the video was not included "RCSC elections did not approve because someone decided it’s unfair to the other candidates. Not what he says, but the flashy production set and graphics." While I was listening I didn't notice a flashy production set. Children are usually attracted to bright shiny objects, but adults usually overlook that and focus on content.
FYI, I always knew it was you Fredo, er, Karen. Legally RCSC is in deep shit on this, election interference, viewpoint discrimination, prior restraint, freedom of speech, arbitrary and capricious actions, conspiracy to defraud, conspiracy on other counts. He could file in Small Claims Court on an expedited manner on an ex parte action. Also request a restraining order allowing his video viewed with the others. But that is just my opinion.

Yeah, but Mike's homemade video is still not present? They made no bones mentioning that "no RCSC produced video was made," so why couldn't they just as easily stated that Mike produced his own, rather then eliminating him entirely? This is blatant election interference by the RCSC as far as I'm concerned! That my opinion!
I have no problem posting facts to ND. More will see it anyway as there are only a few regular posters here. Getting a little tired of the bias. Lat election Bill told us who his preferences were. What's up with that. This is like the corruption just uncovered in PA. On a much smaller scale of course.
Self created and promoted candidate videos are not RCSC’s content. RCSC candidates knew when their introduction videos were to be recorded by RCSC for viewing exclusively on RCSC’s YouTube channel.
It is regrettable that Mike chose to interfere in his RCSC campaign. ““Board Coordinator Johnson asked the committee if they were ok with moving the scheduled Candidate Videos from the Lakeview Board Room to the Sundial Media Room. Non-Golf Sr. Leader Dirmyer suggested that we might want to move them because it is already set up for videos and would be a better atmosphere than the Board Room. The committee agreed that it would be fine to move these. Board Coordinator Johnson will update the Election Schedule document in the Candidate Packets and arrange to book the room for November 1, 2024 at 10:00am. Each candidate will do a 2–3-minute video that will be shown on the televisions in all of the centers till Election Day.” RCSC Election • scheduled Candidate Videos • will update the Election Schedule document in the Candidate Packets • Each candidate will do a 2–3-minute video • Mike Ege (no RCSC-produced video was made) **RCSC media publishes, distributes their own candidate content.** Election Committee Summary September 25, 2024 https://suncityaz.org/wp-content/uploads/minutes-agendas-newsletters/Elections_2024-09-25.pdf
So much worse than the library fiasco. Who needs books anyway. Just for grins where does it say that videos of candidate comments must be recorded by RCSC. I couldn't find it here. Board of Directors Elections FAQs | Recreation Centers of Sun City AZ
Exactly! What's next? Will they be telling candidates they can't post signs around the community? If it's apparently optional whether or not a candidate decides to have the RCSC video record their statements, why shouldn't it also be optional for each candidate to produce their own? Perhaps the rules/guidelines need to be further expanded and more clearly defined to say exactly what they mean? That's the problem with many of the Bylaws and Rules, they are so loosely written and ambiguous that depending on who you ask, and who or what issue may be involved, you can get a number of different interpretations and answers! I don't care how they define these videos or campaign practices, but it's obvious that the current rules aren't specific enough? And this is the last time I'm going to comment on this issue!
Nowhere in that document does it say a candidate cannot record his/her own video. Board Coordinator Johnson asked the committee if they were ok with moving the scheduled Candidate Videos from the Lakeview Board Room to the Sundial Media Room. Non-Golf Sr. Leader Dirmyer suggested that we might want to move them because it is already set up for videos and would be a better atmosphere than the Board Room. FYI, not saying you are, I just like movie quotes. Look on the bright side, I didn’t quote Die Hard, my favorite Christmas movie with Christmas Vacation. Considering the Holiday Season is upon with misinformation about the particular days, if you are looking for a movie for Thanksgiving, I recommend Home For the Holidays. A stellar cast for a disfunction family movie. Charles During is hilarious as is Anne Bancroft in her last movie.
