You re correct. There was a book maybe 20 years ago about the changing industries to a war time footing. Good read on a subject that has been long time ignored.

 

I spent quite a while researching Albert Kahn and lived for a while about 5 ,miles from Willow Run. In fact I have a book, The Story of Willow Run, but it's from 1956 so a more modern one is probably better.

 

The modern book, which for the life of me cannot remember the title, encompassed a broad stroke, from industrial tanks, APCs, ambulances, the famous Jeep and the infamous K rations produced by Cracker Jack. The factory was a few miles from where I grew up. Hopefully I can remember the title. Reading a lot does have a downside at times, this is one.
