John, respectfully, I do think they engage the membership, but ultimately they have to weigh all ideas and make decisions that will help the overall flow of this community. No one person will ever be totally happy about some of these changes, yes, I do get that. That is also why there time on the board gets timed out, allowing for new volunteers to come in and have there turn. Not a perfect system but a sign of the turbulent state of life in this country and the world. I have respect for all of those like you, who actually got up and served, to try to make a difference. We can all make thoughtful suggestions without insults. We all need to be using our heads these days and really trying to fix all the dysfunctions.

Eileen, I agree with most of your points. I was probably engaged in wishful thinking that the Board and management would turn its attention to defining what it takes for continued success in a market flooded with "retirement communities" and then ask the tough question of why any particular major action aligns with our vision of success. When engaged in this train of thought one quickly realizes that expert advice is needed before action is contemplated. Instead, from what limited information dribbles out of the Board one can only surmise that the few are trying to herd the many to their vision as opposed to present options to be considered and why these options align with our vision of success. Oh well, life goes on. John

    John,
They can withstand both injuries to Yamamoto and Betts IF the rest of the team picks up the slack. That will mean:
Better RISP production top to bottom

    Bottom-of-the-order improvement

Reliable shutdown rotation and no further injuries.

    Consistent button-down defense.

Tall order but the Dodgers have the goods on paper; just need to execute.

The will to win, Boys! Get to it! a

    Hi John,
Thanks for your kind words here. I think we all need to keep in mind is that our community is being run by non-professionals. Volunteers.
The issues of the community, the economic issues, the age of the place, the diverse economic needs of lower middle class folks, are NOT what retirees some 60 years ago had to cope with. I like how you mentioned getting experts ( trained experts) in here to help us guide the needs of the town.
I think the BOD should have an awareness that we may just very well need some trained experts to come in here and help guide us to answering many of our current and future needs. It is too easy to sit back and criticize these volunteers who are only bringing there career experiences to the table.
I don't think we are doing that bad based on the lack of modern day things that run cities and towns today.
We are blessed to have the City of Peoria flanking us.

Thanks Eileen, I hope I did not imply the sky is falling down with this board. I enjoy participating in Sun City. I believe we would be much better off with an expertly prepared and communicated long range plan that the majority agrees is the best we can do. As it stands now, most Board members are there because they have a personal agenda.

Agree 100% that current and past board members all had personal agendas.
The upcoming elections will produce different board members with their own agenda.

SCR, when I was on the Board I had no personal agenda. Did not belong to any club, did not play golf (body gave out). At candidate forums I said I had no agenda other than do good. I did my best but sometimes not good enough. I just do two committees now B&F and insurance as these complement my background.

If you are looking for something interesting I can discuss what COVID-19 and the Black Death have in common and what they do not. More than you think.

Thanks for your work on the committees, Dave. I have been told by another member of the insurance committee that your experience and insight on that subject has been valuable.

If you decide to compare and contrast COVID-19 and the Black Death, please start that thread on the other topic list. I am interested and will probably read your thread.

Everybody needs to cool their jets! Director Kise will be giving an explanation at this month's board meeting why they selected the Architect firm that they did.

I'm just happy to see that they didn't select one of the same old firms that they usually use.

Cool your jets? Lest we show our age we should say chill out dudes and dudettes until the man has spoken... ha ha. I am interested to hear the explanation, but does it really matter? Probably not. What matters is that the process is now underway, and members will be informed when the board determines it is appropriate, what the final design looks like. The options, tradeoffs and details will most likely be worked out behind closed doors.

John, if her statement is true, to quote the Beatles “She is leaving, bye, bye.” The closing costs were the tip off.

CT, sorry, I have juggling a bunch of things lately, caregiver, reviewer, B&F committee and the heat pump died today. I will try to get to it as soon as possible. It might take a week or so. Please bear with me.

'Time. Time. What is time? Swiss manufacture it. French hoard it. Italians squander it. Americans say it is money. Hindus say it does not exist. Do you know what I say? I say time is a crook."
    In other words. no rush.

I feel your pain, knee surgery right? I totally get you. As a caregiver for my mom who had CHF it can be tough. Working full time, grocery shopping, doctors’ appointments, cooking, cleaning, bathing, dressing, listening most nights for those coughing spasms. The people I worked for were awesome tho and allowed me to take the time I needed. I would do it all over again! I miss her a lot.
