Sure hope to hear great discussion from the board members, RCSC staff, and membership about the MV motion at the board meeting tomorrow. Of course I will have to watch the video of meeting.

I didn’t attend meeting, but did spend couple hours watching the video. Glad to see motion for MV passed first reading. Only discussion which I did not like was hearing couple board members imply an indoor pickleball facility would cost too much. Where are the $ figures? I thought we are moving forward to see what is possible for MV. An indoor facility used all day would decrease the need for so many courts. The cost for indoor facility still needs to be explored, in my humblest opinion. Over and out !
As Director Collins shared at the board meeting, in 2015 the Mountain View auditorium was temporarily setup for summer air conditioned pickleball play. Few took advantage of it. They gave it another hot season try, minimal participation again. That was the end of it. Collins said feedback from players was that the sport is preferred to be played outside. We have a much larger group of residents who have requested an air conditioned facility to train dogs and their owners year round, which benefits the whole community. Best Friends Dog Club has asked for years!! There is high demand for their training sessions. They’re finally on the RCSC radar. Nothing official, yet. Cost will in no way compare to pickleball expansions proposed. The loudest bark once again gets the bone : (
WOOF!! Good to know. Still idea is worth exploring and forgot to mention again the pb noise factor. If I was trying to relax at a resort style pool I would resent the sound of popcorn popping all day.(pb) With a nice indoor facility participation would increase. And the experiment indoors was a few years ago. Need for space has increased also. Not sure how indoor puppy facility benefits entire community, but if it kept crap off my yard I might be all in for the facility. WOOF!!!
Well...that was about 9 years ago. I think the sport, at least in Sun City has only grown in popularity at an accelerated pace only fairly recently, so perhaps another go at indoor courts in the MV is worth, at some point, another try? But I suspect that won't be possible until they figure out where the PAC will be built or if the existing MV building will be reused for the PAC. I personally, along with a friend, have measured the indoor space of the MV building and based on the recommended court size you could fit 4 courts inside that building.
From the Best Friends Dog Club website: We benefit the dog owners and the entire Sun City community by providing better socialized dogs, and more responsible dog owners. The Mission of the Best Friends Dog Club is to provide for the needs of dogs and dog-owners of Sun City. We do this in several ways: We educate people to care for and handle their dogs for their mutual love and enjoyment. We provide social activities for dogs and dog-owners. We offer training programs for dog owners with their dogs. *************** An uncontrolled or lost dog is a safety hazard running into street traffic and getting hit! It’s a trauma not only to the pet & owner, but the driver of the vehicle and witnesses as well. Another safety benefit, a well socialized dog is less likely to be aggressive around other dogs and people. There are many health benefits to owning a well managed dog: mutual exercise, mental health/companionship, daily routine, responsibility, social opportunities in the community (RCSC Duffeeland Dog park, Best Friends Club, and dog walking friendships) Dog Cub website: https://www.bestfriendsdogclub.org/
Disappointing to read about the stun gun usage at the dog park. I mean, really! This item was on a thread in another blog. Just sounded so crazy and inappropriate.
Source? The dog park is an RCSC amenity and subject to its membership rules for use. If indeed a weapon, stun gun, was used, that needs to be reported!
See Sun City Chat Arizona— search on the blog for duffleland dog park. The incident was evidently reported to RCSC.
Thanks, hope it’s actually been reported and the incident process started. Whomever was at the park, with their dog and stun gun, not only deserves a RCSC reprimand, but mandatory dog owner training as well. Left Facebook years ago, for multiple reasons!
