Gee, you would have thought that the Press Release "Board Announces Candidates Running in 2023 RCSC Elections" would have provided the link to those videos within the article/announcement, but no! You have to search for it on the YouTube channel!!!
I still mourn the death of the Outreach and Communications Committee. I spoke out. It still died. Will it rise like the Phoenix? I hope so.
Yes, Mike, I have heard you speak often to reinstate the Communications Committee to no avail. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Well...you can scratch Jeff Darbut off the list of candidates. He has pulled his name from the running for the upcoming election. And then there were 6!
Serving on the RCSC board is challenging enough, being in the minority position is really difficult. My frustration over the years has been the inability to listen; both between board members and more importantly from the membership. The lack of work sessions between the 9 board members made it nearly impossible to find a cohesive path forward. When that happens, especially with single issue board members, the breakdown is inevitable. Here's the really good news about Sun City: We know the community has faced some really difficult times and through every adversity Sun City has survived and flourished. This year will be no different.
It may have been regarding the Golf Advisory Committee. I have heard that he called a meeting without notifying the other CoChair and wasn't going to let him in when he showed up. Also no public notice of the committee meeting. Tried to put his own choices on the GAC rather than following the Board Policy of how the members are selected. Not sure what is true or not. Certainly not a way we would want one of our Directors to act. If the Board chose to discipline him, it would be in executive session so no one would know about it. That's as it should be. Perhaps Mr. Darbut just decided it wasn't worth his time and effort.
I wonder if the other golfers who are running for the Board will decide to proceed or opt out of the election. Pretty hard for them to argue with the numbers from our CFO's presentation and budget proposal.
