Hmmmmm? Not sure what I think about this! We pay big bucks to an employment agency then turn around and hire from within? Seems to me we've been thru this once before!
I initially thought the same thing, but his experience appears to be very diverse, so I'll wait and see. If his experience matches up with other candidates, his in-house knowledge and Sun City residency are bonuses.
I'm just delighted we have someone. I also never try and judge anyone until they've demonstrated the good, the bad or the ugly. His first big test will be Monday evening as i suspect the crowd will be loud and clamoring for the things they want. Should be an interesting meeting.
Just seems there must have been some connection to previous GM. Hope it was not anything which might cause conflict. Honeymoon period should be short considering his recent experience within RCSC team.
If i were to give one small bit of advice to the new GM, it would be the same i gave to many of the new board members: Learn to trust and lean on the members, believing you need all the answers is exactly what got us to the point we are at today. So simple, yet so hard to let go and believe.
Not knowing how long he has been an RCSC employee you do have to ask yourself, "I wonder what side of the fence he is leaning too?" After all, the last two GM's weren't exactly Member Friendly so it's a matter of how much of their influence has affected his thinking...for good or for bad! I go along with Tom T. that we should view the glass as half-full. Besides, you're still innocent until proven guilty!!! It won't take too long to see where he stands. He needs his time to prove himself.
The positives - he has a very diverse resume that also includes Non-profit experience AND he lives in Sun City. They made a decision to move here first, so to me that shows they had a desire to be in Sun City and are committed to RCSC. I hope Members give him a warm welcome on Monday.
I'm curious to see who this gentleman actually is and if we've seen him at Board Meetings and Exchanges. If not, then why the sudden interest to become the GM?
