That's a pretty bad reflection of the members and/or visitors using our amenities. If people are abusing the courses and not following the rules then privileges should be revoked. SC courses do not need to be known for cheap, average courses OR courses where players can just do as they please without consequences.
Are these rangers volunteers? I heard they wouldn’t be able to do these things due to insurance/liability issues.
Basically yes. So when people say they can’t have volunteers please explain the PRIDES and golf rangers to me.
The PRIDES are a tax exempt group established as a volunteer community organization. On the other hand, many large tax exempt organizations use volunteers in various capacities. It's a good question for management - are there insurance riders for certain classes of volunteers? I don't recall, but from past experience we used volunteers for all types of events. But those weren't in place of what could be considered replacements for full or part-time employees.
I am thinking PRIDES do not volunteer for RCSC work? Not sure though. Seems they are usually doing a great job keeping streets clean and nicely landscaped.
They've explained the PRIDES, not an RCSC organization, a free standing tax exempt organization.. The rangers is a great question and the concept goes back away. Seems to me there was actually some minimal pay, not just credits for play or whatever the latest gimmick is. If memory serves me, it's never been very successful or used much. It is a great question; why is okay for them?
Very interesting how clubs are set-up … RECREATION CENTERS OF SUN CITY, INC. BP12 Chartered Clubs Index 8. Club login credentials for 990 filing must be provided to the Clubs Office. Chartered Clubs shall issue Internal Revenue Service 1099 forms to individuals who are paid six hundred dollars ($600) or more during a calendar year. Interesting and thanks for the info. Still a good idea to ask RCSC directly about volunteers and insurance/liability issues.
Let's start on what i agree with you on SW: no golf cars for non-resident full play passes unless they pay the full rental rate. Director Collins made that motion long ago and was ignored and told no. Yesterday at the Budget and Finance meeting as they were discussing capital expenditures over the coming years, golf cars were an issue. I wanted to scream (but i didn't), take away the 85 golf cars guaranteed to non-residents (for a small fraction of their market value) and the problem is mostly solved. Duh, just duh! Here's where we part company SW; phase 1 is not a ghetto, never has been, never will be. In fact, you should be ashamed for saying that. I've listened and responded to this tripe for 20 years and am frustrated you would go there. But alas, looking down ones nose at others is now part of our dominant culture these days isn't it? By the way, when we get bombed by the monsoons (not this year for sure), lots of places flood, in all three phases. As far as only spending 10 million dollars on MV, not nearly enough to do what need be done. Oddly, i am hearing rumors some board members want to limit PIF expenditures on centers and more focus on golf. Good God i hope that's not the case. Might just be time to start calling for a forensic audit to show the entire membership just how costly golf has been to all of us.
The Rangers are volunteers for minor compensation. They use their own carts. The problem is that they are all residents and as such they are friends and neighbors with the golfers they are supposed the keep in line. If they take any action against a golfer it could go badly for them at home.
