Historical Doors?

Sadly, I cannot post photos here, but perhaps you'll be able to visualize the doors I am speaking of. Palmbrook Country Club has very dramatic large wooden doors with a rectangle within rectangle design and what looks to be cast bronze door pulls with intriguing abstract shapes. Similarly, Lakeview Methodist Church also has unique doors but with a repeating pattern of squares around the edges and door pulls that also appear to have been cast. Was there a local company that manufactured these types of doors? I bet there are more throughout Sun City, but these two places just made themselves known to me recently and I got bit by the curiosity bug.

Those PalmBrook Country Club doors weigh a ton and are a bugger to open. Meeker loved building the churches and i suspect often had a hand in helping them find architects to assist in their building projects. He did have a program on landscaping, i think it was for every dollar the church spent, DEVCO would add $2. He wanted the outside of churches be as presentable for the exterior and interiors.

And the churches are indeed treasures and most have maintained lovely landscaping too. Didn't know Meeker's role in that--thx for the info. So you don't think there'd be info about the door company or artisan who did the handles?

We are having the Sun City Chat Arizona meet and greet at the Museum on Friday afternoon from 4 pm till 7 pm. I'll take a quick peak while there, perhaps the Church book, hand sketched by Emile Fisher, has information. I have not come across it anywhere else.

The other option is Ben Roloff has completed his 7 year local newspaper gathering project (30 years). He his 5 filled binders and best of all he has converted to a searchable data base. It is spectacular.

Cool. Would be interested in hearing anything discovered. What a wonderful project of Ben's!
