I was thrilled by the election results as a lot of other folks were. But in my wildest dreams I never would have imagined the the other half of the regime would resign on their own and allow new faces to take their place.

For the first time in years I have confidence in our board. I may not always agree with their decisions going forward but I’m certain that their decisions will be for what they consider is best for the community, not for their own personal agenda.

It was of little surprise the three left. If they couldn't be in charge they simply didn't want to be there. Imagine how those felt who were treated so poorly and ignored daily hung on with the hope the membership would do the right thing and return Sun City to their roots. They/we were rewarded for enduring and the three quitters along with the losers are bitter. Oh well.

I had coffee with my best buddy Ben Roloff yesterday and he said; "It must feel good after all these years seeing it finally happening." We laughed, as historians we both understand our role, help those living here know how the community was built and why it was so successful. It's been a long, slow and sometimes frustrating journey but as i sat in the room at the board meeting it all dawned on me. We have arrived.

If you think not, i can give you one solid example that is undeniable. The former board president talked non-stop about the importance of data. It sounded good and felt right, but when you lifted the blanket, what you saw and heard were the platitudes of the importance of data, with virtually no meat on the bone. Watch the video of the meeting as Karen McAdam talks about the discussions with management regarding "flat space" utilization and the reports being generated now that someone has finally asked to see the "data."

By the way; it feels damned good.
