Something to consider from the Sun City West website. Talk about inclusive! If only we have the technology in place ; (
Sun City West Budget Forum dates rescheduled

The Recreation Centers of Sun City West has rescheduled its upcoming Budget Forums for the community.

Please make note of these new dates. We encourage all residents to attend at least one session:
    9 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, Lecture Hall.
    5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, Lecture Hall

General Manager Bill Schwind will discuss the proposed fiscal plan for 2023-24. The sessions will be held in the Lecture Hall, but also live streamed and recorded for YouTube. There will be time for questions from members.

Schwind will give a PowerPoint presentation about the proposed operations and capital budget, including owner member dues, Asset Preservation Fee, golf and bowling fees. The budget is not yet final, as the Governing Board will not approve it until its regular meeting in May.

Community members are encouraged to attend one of these sessions to provide input and ask questions.

Interesting to note, Sun City West just launched a new website as well. Communities need to evolve and stay current, relevant. No one would argue that. I like many of the motions regarding Sun City's financials that will be voted on (second reading on April 5 at the evening board meeting). Clearly we are a work in progress.

We have finally got the train back on the track and making great strides toward a much better future for our community. The proposals under consideration make perfect sense.

Here are 3 sentences taken from the Sun City West email notification :

We encourage all residents to attend at least one session:
There will be time for questions from members.
Community members are encouraged to attend one of these sessions to provide input and ask questions.

Now compare those to the sentences taken from email notifications from the RCSC from the last 2 years:

Due to time constraints, questions are limited to Viewpoint Lake HOA members only. (Sent 3/24/23)
Member comments at Board meetings will be limited to posted motions (Sent 3/10/22)
Ad Hoc Bylaws Revision Committee. Only members of the committee may speak. 3/28/22)
Information Session with Viewpoint Lake HOA. Anyone can attend but only HOA members will be allowed to speak 3/28/22
CCBG Architects will be presenting plans for the Mountain View project after the Board meeting on February 24, 2022. Members are allowed to stay, but will not be allowed to ask questions.

This kind of reminds me of the saying “children are meant to be seen, not heard.” Boards from previous years allowed us to listen in at the meetings, but didn’t value any feedback. Past RCSC officers and GMs seemed to have no qualms about increasing the fees while not wanting any input from the members on how their money was being spent. Heaven forbid they included the membership in fiscal planning when 2-3 people seemed to think they had all the power to plan, decide and “do as they please.”

What the previous boards from years past failed to understand is: It takes both sides to build a bridge!

During the old guard’s reign, muting the membership, many asked, “What are they afraid of?
The curtain has been pulled back and we’re finding out!!

For those who are so intrigued with SCW(not you Bill) but the newbies who have lived here for 5yrs or less. Go to Bell Rd, head west until you get to RH Johnson, turn right, and make this your new home You are nothing but trouble makers and loud mouths with little or no class. You are seen and heard in public. No class carrying on in public for all to see and hear.

Maybe you’re satisfied with the status quo. Lots of us aren’t. By the way, I’ve lived here 14 years and I’ll damn sure speak up if I don’t like something.
