One of the lessons those of us who have done lots of stuff around Sun City learned was to check the calendar of events to try and avoid scheduling conflicts with larger organizations. I was surprised to see this meet and greet affair at the New York Pastry shop; it's fairly small. Perhaps they were going for a more intimate vibe. They have a nice sized meeting room at the Posse building, so going off site didn't make much sense to me. The other challenge they face is after so many years of just "having fun," trying to rebuild that sense of community is daunting. Not impossible, but clearly should be a community project spearheaded by the RCSC in partnership with all of the players (other Sun City organizations) committed to bring people living here together.
Jean Totten as One Day At A Time: Re: two conflicting events: Both are important; both affect us. The criminal behavior that we are seeing and experiencing is (unfortunately) not going to go away. I'm guessing Coffee with the Posse Commander and MCSO will be repeated. The Board meeting happens once a month but what will take place during and after this particular meeting (Planning Session) will only happen on the 29th and won't be repeated.
