Well, its been at least 7 days since the planning session was held with regard to Technology. I listened carefully to the new IT managers assessment of the current technology (or lack thereof) in Sun City. A few questions; 1. Was there an IT manager before Randy Byrd? 2. How many people worked in IT before Randy? 3. Who do you think is responsible for the current state of technology (or lack thereof) in Sun City. 4. Have you learned anything from Randy's presentation? I'll start - the wiring closets were nothing less than deplorable and Randy only showed 3. The closets did not get that way over night and they did not get that way because they actually had an IT staff. If there was an IT manger he/she was not doing their job. If there was an IT manger, I'll assume that he/she reported to the GM. That being the case, the GM was derelict in her duties to see that closets were properly maintained and documented. A roof collapse at Sundial did not create the current situation. What was the end result of the planning session? Was anything voted on or is everything that was presented going to be studied to death with no results. What has the LRPC done to speed things along? Be honest here. It should not take months/years to get results from the LRPC's recommendations. I'd like to say that the board must direct the GM to take immediate action to correct and upgrade out current IT infrastructure, but without funds or even a budget nothing is going to change. The previous GM did not want ANY electronic data collection and I suspect the new GM is following in her footsteps. I would also suspect that if the board takes no action and no budget is forthcoming, Randy may start looking for a new position. Without support from the board he has no chance of succeeding. Please, please, please, try to answer all of the above and provide your feedback to everything mentioned above.
Whatever is decided on from the planning session must have Project Management as part of the solution. Project management plans, manages, and executes the work. Something I have never seen done in Sun City
Subscriber Exclusive RCSC playing catch-up with tech in Sun City Embarking on 3-year plan Posted Friday, February 4, 2022 7:00 am By Rusty Bradshaw Twitter: @SunCitiesEditor https://www.yourvalley.net/stories/rcsc-playing-catch-up-with-tech-in-sun-city,284516?cb=1643985133
Nothing was done at the end of the meeting SCR; shocked me to say the least. If all this was was information received, it would be tragic. My guess is they will respond but it will too slow, too little and too late. I learned early on to prioritize problems and to act with both care and speed. I guess one could argue it's been broken for 15 years, why act quickly now? It would be a brain-dead foolish argument. Just telling you all the Sun City Advocates advisory members will be meeting today. There's a number of topics we will be talking about. Clearly one of the most important will be the state of technology in Sun City. I just checked the views on the RCSC YouTube site and 615 people watched the board meeting from January 27 while only 282 have viewed the IT Planning session. No surprise because of the roughly 150 members in attendance for the board meeting, there were only 15 to 20 that stayed for the second session. Let's be blunt here, the RCSC is no little mom and pop operation. The annual budget is about 21 million dollars per year, the PIF with the increase brings in another 8 million dollars. They list assets at 137 million which is laughable; being conservative i guess. The point is, they need to quit running it like it is food truck rather than a fine dining restaurant. There's never been a master plan, project manager or even a cohesive strategy to build for the future...at least since DEVCO left in 1978. In the years from 1978 through 2006, the community via committees, surveys and member input had a voice. The day those were taken away, it became leadership by a few, a very few. In the next week we will launch opportunities to join the Sun City Advocates. We aren't a rebellious bunch of radical activists, simply concerned members who want Sun City to function in conjunction with the membership and the leadership. A time when accountability was key to the way the community and the RCSC was supposed to run. More importantly, a time when the goal was to build a sense of community, not tear it apart.
Thought i'd bump this one up there so we can have a little back and forth. Seeing as you are a regular chatty cathy tonight perhaps you want to wade in on the RCSC being 15 years behind with their IT. Seems to me you were on the board for a good portion of those and better yet, our last argument about the need to address the technology issues was pushed aside. Step up to the keyboard bro, i can hardly wait to hear your explanation regarding why you (the board) neglected to push management to do their job and fix the woeful state of technology. Or is this just more minutia?
