As mentioned in another thread, i was excited when i saw the email from the RCSC with the agenda for the membership meeting. It included the changes several of us made regarding the By-Laws. Just seeing it in print gave me a sense of hope. Of course, we all know the magic number is 1250 to achieve a quorum and without it, those changes are just a piece of paper going nowhere...at least for now. There was a moment as i read the agenda where i became a touch morose. Attached to it, were the minutes signed by Diane Worth, an old friend, who was the secretary on the board back then. It was dated November 19, 2009. All these years i have been wrong, i thought the meeting was in Sept of 2009, so it wasn't as far back as i recollected. My sadness didn't come from being wrong, Lord knows, i've done so many times. No, i was depressed by the fact its been that long since the membership had a voice. Seeing it in print, only adds to the misery of just how much this community was changed over all these years. And to be clear, in spite of what one board member claimed the other day at the meeting, the date November 19, 2009, was in fact the last time there was a membership meeting. Let me help her understand, no quorum, no meeting. Duh! With all that out of the way, my two-stepping header was for none of this. What really, really pissed me off was an email i got the other night from Ricky Toland. You may recall he has gone to the mic several times to inquire about the Recall Petition he has filed now, three times to be precise. The last one was just the other day when the Vice President for the RCSC would do some digging and get back to him regarding the status of #3. He filed it the morning of November 18 with the RCSC (for the third time). He has remained patient and pleasant in spite of the hoops they have made him jump through. His efforts have finally been rewarded, here is the response from the vice-president: Rickie, I want to get back to you regarding our conversation during the Board meeting on December 6th about your request for a petition control number that you submitted on November 18th. After speaking with RCSC staff members, we were unable to locate your request. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us. Did i say two steps backwards?
Again, without ANY digital collection of data things are not going to get better. Keep the members in the dark.
Reminds me of the times I put suggestions in those little boxes and they magically disappeared too. One of the reasons I requested they be given #s so requests could be followed through the pipeline, but oh no, RCSC doesn't have the capabilities to do that....
Maybe Rickie can get a spot on the next Sun City In Focus video... LOL In reality, I find this depressing. My dog ate my homework!
I don't know where it will end Cheri because the one thing that has become apparent to me is they see us as the ones who are wrong and everything they are doing is right. I find it stunning when you see the push back from the community and still they act like all is just fine and dandy. It's not guys and for those of you from the board and management reading this, take a good long hard look in the mirror and then ask yourself...why is everyone so upset with us?
