STICK TO THE TOPIC There are such a plethora of good, sound suggestions for improvements between the BOD, the staff and the members that I've created this Thread to keep track of them and post them. We might not be able to remember all these ideas as time goes by. Resurrect a Communications Committee Why? This committee began in 2010 but has slowly evolved from Communications through Technology and now to Sun City in Focus. Recently members have let the BOD know that communication is sorely lacking. Let's change that.
Require all projected/upcoming motions to be placed on the RCSC website. Why? So any member may read them before they are presented to the Board at the meeting.
Remove 3-minute speaking time for members and BOD at all Board meetings. Why? Three minutes is not enough time to get ones thoughts across to the BOD. Often BOD take much of the three minutes to give their answer.Solution? Try various amounts of time to see what would better accommodate everyone. Perhaps start with five (5) and then up to sever (7) if five doesn't work. Continue to experiment until a good time is found.
Establish a Bylaws Committee made up of both board members and Members to review and amend the existing bylaws giving back to the Members their ability of self-governance.
Create true visionary process for long-range planning. The process currently feels very haphazard and arbitrary.
Define the proper procedure to remove or discipline a Director similar to those procedures found in the Bylaws that are required to suspend a Cardholder (I hate that term) of their privilege's.
Stop calling us "Cardholders". We are "Members" of the Corporation...without which there would be no need for the Corporation! "A Privilege Card does not entitle Privilege Cardholders the right to vote, to speak at Membership or Board meetings or to serve on the Board or Committees." (See RCSC Bylaws Art II, ยง 5) Privilege Cardholders are NOT "Members" because they cannot fully participate, speak at meetings or vote! (See RONR 12th Ed. 1:4)
