PIF Motion!! Mountainview Phase 3 Motion!! Acceptable practices during petition signing! Remodeling bathrooms!

The agenda is posted, and am I the only one who thinks they are continuing their quest to hurry some things up before the new Board takes effect in January?

By now I had thought that they had their butts covered with all kinds of amendments about where petitions can be signed but they must have missed one so they're taking care of that here. And let's change the name of the Communications Committee again!!

Now, more than ever, we need to attend this meeting to listen, to observe, to question!! We'll also have a chance to chat with the candidates. Their interviews were posted on YouTube yesterday.

The Board confirmed to me at the September 30th meeting that Board Meetings Member Comments (or an email) are the only two ways to ask questions of them. You, as a member, can ask anything that relates to the Board. I’m preparing several questions – I challenge you to ask one! We have such a diversity of readers/posters on this forum; we should be able to come up with some good, thought-provoking questions.

    Sundial Auditorium, 9 a.m.
According to the Board, currently you are NOT required to present your RCSC Member or Privilege card upon entry. I'm bringing mine.

It is pretty fascinating to see they went from "we can't promise you anything to here's what we are going to do in Phase 3." Wonder if we will see they new phase 3 project plans? Wonder if they will also have the phase 2 plans done?

Did anybody notice the next item on the agenda that the board is attempting? The one to be presented by Hoffer who wants to double-down on the restriction that prevents the Members from getting our petitions signed on RCSC property. There already is a bylaw that allows candidates to have their petitions signed on RCSC property so why is it necessary to double-down other than the fact that he's shoving another reminder in our faces that there are rules for thee but not for me!!!!

I'm referring to Section 2, paragraph 2, the one that states:
    "2. Petitions will not be:
    1. Circulated within or at the RCSC
    "

Hoffer wants to amend it to read, "Circulated within or at the RCSC except those for RCSC Board Candidates"

If the board really wants to show the General Membership who's side the board is on and that they're not trying to restrict our ability to challenge a board's decision, how about offering an amendment to that Article that would strike out the words "will not" and insert the word "may" after the word petitions? The Article would then read:
    "2. Petitions may be:
    1. Circulated within or at the RCSC"

It's quite convenient that only candidates running for the board can circulate and have their petitions signed on RCSC property but when it comes to the voice of the Members we are restricted from doing the same!

They are simply a self-serving pathetic group of people.... who are suppose to be looking out for us?!?!?!?!?! Are you kidding me?

I can't wait to vote for a new round of board members. I pretty much know a couple who I will definitely be voting for, and who I definitely won't be voting for. The candidate forums will fill-in the rest I need to know to make my decision. Lets just hope we get 4 good candidates and don't have to rely on any more retreads!

Since we are talking about October 28 Board Meeting

    Committee Recommendations:
    3. Communications through Technology Committee Vice President Ege: Per recommendation from the Communications through Technology Committee, I move to change the name of the committee to “Sun City in Focus Committee” with the committee purpose remaining the same.

The Communications Committee was half neutered when they changed the name to Communications through Technology Committee. Then it was fully neutered when its mission was changed: produce the video In Focus newsletter. It seems to be modeled after the Daily Mail TV or Entertainment Tonight (IMHO).

The committee finally realizes that it is sterile and wants to have a more meaningful name: Sun City in Focus Committee.
Why does the board need a standing committee "Sun City in Focus"? Can you say "Puff Journalism"?

It's a waste of Board member's time, to chair this hobby (oops - committee). Is the RCSC Marketing and Communications Coordinator a member?
As I understand her role, she oversees all outward RCSC communications to the Membership and the Public (Web Site, Sunviews, Press Releases, etc.).

I still think it should be a chartered club.

Ho Hum.. Why do I care? What does it matter?

    Agenda Item 3.B (Hoffer)

    Petitions will not be:
    1. Circulated within or at RCSC Facilities except those for RCSC Board Candidates.

    One Question; WHY?

RCSC is an organization that supports member socialization through clubs and activities. Why can members seek support or interest from other members in the places where members congregate (RCSC Facilities)? Anyone should be able to ask for a signature on a petition in an RCSC facility. It is social activity. We are adults and don't want or need to be pushy. We should be allowed to passively ask for support (be it interest in a new club, or interest in a perceived RCSC issue, or interest in becoming a board member).

    Just another humble opinion.

I'm going to disagree with FYI slightly: The entire sub-section B should be stricken. There is no need for the bylaws to tell us we are allowed to do something, and we should absolutely be allowed to circulate petitions on our company property.

And so where are the architectural plans for Phase 3 of Mtn View anyway? I can't find them in the agenda attachments nor web site. And what is plan for the years between when those facilities are bulldozed and rebuilt? Oh wait, Karen asked that and got 'disappeared'...

Under normal circumstances I would totally agree with you jeb, but we're living in a new normal. We're living under a set of bylaws that tell you more of what can't do than what you can do as a Member! You can't do pretty much anything that goes against the board or one of their decisions unless you first get their approval! You can't even start a petition unless the board approves it! You can't pass a motion at the annual membership meeting unless it gets approved by the board! Is the board the corporation or are WE THE MEMBERS? And for them to pass judgment on a motion or bylaw that affects them is a conflict of interest! Just who the hell is running this show? There...I said it!

Remember the board meeting where people brought the signs? Is there a bylaw that says you can't bring signs to a board meeting? No! Which under normal circumstances means that you can until the GM makes an on the spot new rule..."No signs because I say so"!

It sure would have been nice to be able to point to a bylaw that says you can bring signs rather than having to argue that the bylaws don't prohibit them. Same is true here. It would be nice if the bylaws actually gave us the permission to have our petitions signed on RCSC property!

    Just say'n!
