No worries 3ck, i wish i had a dollar for every time i made a mistake, i could be retired. Especially if you asked my spouse to name them. Anyway, nothing to do now but wait to see what kind of agenda we will be looking at come Monday. Should be telling.
Outrageous! They're getting rid of all the "shall's" and turning them into "may" thereby eliminating the mandate of using Roberts Rules. What a bunch of losers!
I still can't believe the agenda! It became easier to read once my eyes stopped bleeding!! Maybe this is "The Bastards did it, 2.0" because they've done it again! Especially changing the "shall's" to "may's"! What I want to know is who determines when they "shall" and when they "may" follow the rules? The only thing worse than actually considering this motion would be if they actually pass it! Boy, if you ever wanted to project the notion that, "We, the Board makes all the rules so just shut-up and pay your annual assessment" they've done a great job! And how about those requirements for the Annual Membership Meeting? Since they make the rules they determine the "Emergency." Just like the "emergency" they used to call that special meeting and fire Karen. She was, at the very least deserving of a 72 hour notice of the meeting. What was the emergency? The board had gone into a recess that would last for more than 2 months so why did it have to be done immediately? I am so disgusted and disappointed I want to puke!
If we do we certainly don't want the same type of lawyers the RCSC is using! The RCSC is either blowing smoke up our butts when they say they have checked with legal council or their legal council doesn't know crap!
BPearson - as you were once a board member, how many bylaw changes were made on your watch? Who brings these by law changes to the boards attention? I don't believe the sitting board has anyone intelligent enough to research by laws and request changes to same. Would I be correct in suggesting that by law changes are being presented to the board from outside sources? The latest agenda is a forewarning that membership involvement in ANY RCSC meeting is going to be eliminated. Also, why does the membership have to wait for a membership meeting to show up in mass and questions the boards actions?
One of Robert's Rules I'm sure the board would adhere too would be the one that states as soon as the new rule passes the vote and is accepted, it immediately goes into affect. So....if they make the motion and pass it, then waive the 2nd and 3rd reading, it goes into affect immediately. And back to BP's comment, they seem to have violated the 10 day previous notice rule for amending the Bylaws? Rules are for thee but not for me!
BP or another former Board member on here: How long does the Board allow members to sign up for agenda items on the day of the meeting (9/13)? By any chance is it until all the people who have lined up to sign up are signed in?
This applies to our RCSC governing board oh so well. IMHO there are only two solutions -- member revolt at a member meeting with sufficient participants to out-vote the status quo numbskulls, or electing a board that wants to govern the RCSC more democratically. For either to occur requires members to organize to target specific high priority objectives. -- it won't happen by ad hoc spontaneous member comments/motions at a board/member meeting or random candidates running for the board. Mass attendance at meetings is a start, but there needs to be organized and targeted speakers or a majority slate of board candidates -- or both.
Forget Member meeting. Any meeting held by RCSC should be the target of all RCSC members. The board has been hi-jacked by outside sources and unless and until the membership shows up at ALL meetings, nothing will change.
Without MEMBER involvement at ALL RCSC meetings (Board or Member) nothing will change. If Members do not care enough about Sun City to get involved, Sun City is destined to become a community controlled by outside agenda seeking individuals. Golf appears to be the one thing that members support even though the number of golfers is probably less than 10% of the entire community. I'm still waiting for someone to post the Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, or any other document that says GOLF will rulle everything in Sun City.
Couple of quick points in response to the comments. When i was on the board, the gm rewrote everything. The board officers would support her rewrite and those of us who disagreed just voted no and that was that. I have no idea if that is still the case or if the board is just crapping in their pants and trying how to get out from under it all. As far as signing up, get their early and please understand it is not a sign in, but a sign up to speak to a specific motion. There has never been a time to my knowledge where the signup went longer than the start of the meeting. This may be a first. Golf has always hovered around 12% of the population. Unless and until they figure out what the true cost for a round of golf is, nothing will change. When the day comes a round of golf is $40 or $50 then watch the shit start flying. It's my opinion the gm has hidden numbers and the board has never held her accountable. This meeting is the first time in many many years the board is afraid of what they are facing. It wouldn't surprise me to see armed guards in the place. It begs the question, are we crazy, or are they? I think that answered everything but we now know none of what we think or say matters. More on that later.
I've been saying that for a long time! I expect to see either the posse or somebody from the sheriffs dept. be there. The next thing they'll want to do is appoint a sergeant at arms or make us go thru metal detectors? This agenda has only made things worse but I guess they can't or are too stupid to see that. The only thing worse than actually considering some of those motions would be if they actually pass them because if they ever wanted to project the notion that, "We, the Board make all the rules, so just shut-up and pay your annual assessment fee," they've done a really great job! I give them "A" plus!
So Bill, if I understand correctly, no one on the board ever looks at bylaws and suggests changes. Is that correct? all the motions in the current agenda will be passed without objection form any board member. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, the members/cardholders/citizens of Sun City have given control to outside forces due to their lack of their attention and participation in board/member meetings. We ha e left the destiny of Sun City in the hands of external forces for the detriment of Sun City. Sun City will never be the same Sun City as your grandparents or parents. expect annual assessments to rise 3 fold in the coming years. If you think not, be prepared for the inevitable. me personally, I don’t care one way or the other as my time here is quickly approaching its end. I do feel sorry for the newcomers who gave no clue and could care less how Sun City is governed.
